Slim of 112 recently shot the video in Atlanta for his next single for his solo album “Loves Crazy”, which is in stores now. The new song is called Apologize and Slim is shown in the video serenading us in front of an all female band. Great concept for this smooth ballad!
“Apologize” ~ Slim
I so hate I missed the shoot…it was the perfect time for me to reshoot my lost Slim old school memory footage!? Oh well…Maybe next week!

Shouts out to Kaz at Simone Smalls PR for the invite and the flix!
March is Women’s History Month so all of the O.S.A.M.s (Old School Atlanta Memories) I write in the coming weeks will focus on women. And history. Unsung women’s history. And music. In the A. There’s a lot of that, by the way.
Somewhere.
I had all kinds of grand plans to talk old school this week about the party promotress with the PhD or the Grammy-winning grandson of the unsung civil rights foot soldier who largely credits her influence for his success. I’d been in it for the past few days as Goodie M.O.B. is my default ATL group of choice and we started the week slippin’ on Black Ice with the snow and all. Was maybe going to talk about how great it was to actually be able to play ‘Beautiful Skin’ in the car with my kid when it first came out.
Thought about doing a ‘Still Standing’ (G.M.) vs. ‘Still Standing’ (Monica) retrospective til I saw a poster touting Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopez’s latest offering (r.i.p. eternally).
All that other stuff suddenly got pushed back like Keri Hilson’s (much-anticipated) release date.
So, what’s your favorite O.S.A.M. moment involving an ATL female rapper? Seemed like a logical place to start. The answers I’ve gleaned so far range from “working as a P.A. on my first video – TLC’s ‘What About Your Friends’ to “watching the fight between Princess and Diamond at Soulja Boy’s party.” In the age of instant tweeting, old school can sometimes mean………last year?
I caught up with Gorilla Zoe at the Atlanta Zoo last week during his”Don’t Feed The Animals” listening session. He shared his Old School Atlanta Memories or well…actually he shared a list which included Atlanta during the Olympics, the Braves championships seasons and of course Willie B ~ our infamous Gorilla. 😆
I interrupt Flashback Friday to bring you this important update about my 2nd favorite Atlanta ‘Housewife’ without a husbandSheree Whitfield.? It’s being reported this morning that since dismissing her divorce appeal seeking more money from her ex-hubby, former Falcons player Bob Whitfiled, Sheree has failed to pay her attorneys almost $90,000.
The complaint, dated Feb. 2, 2009 and filed at the Superior Court of Fulton County, states that Sheree Whitfield owed $69,343.98 in principal going back to May 10, 2006. Interest on the unpaid amount, based on a monthly interest rate of 1.5%, is $17,832.93 through January 31, 2009, according to the filing.
“Plaintiff has contacted Defendant in an effort to collect said debt. Defendent?s refusal to pay said debt as agreed constitutes an act of bad faith and has caused the Plaintiff unnecessary trouble and expense, thereby entitling Plaintff to an award of its expenses of litigation, including reasonable attorney?s fees in an amount to be proven by the evidence at trial.”
Steven Montalto, the attorney representing Levine & Smith, said as of March 5, 2009, the firm has been unable to track Sheree Whitfield down to service a summons and a copy of the complaint. (Source)
Check out one of my many ‘A’ town favs, “85” from Youngbloodz which features my boo Twan…I mean Big Boi and Jim Crow. [SIDEBAR: For those of you who just hit Hartsfield/Jackson International, Jim Crow consisted of Polow Da Don, Cutty Cartel and Mr. Mo.] Some people’s standard introduction to the “A” is I285 where they get caught up driving in a never ending loop…but I’m sure I85 is a close second, leading you from the far north straight to the ‘dirty’ south.
Happy Flashback Friday! Y’all ready for that weekly Atlanta history lesson? It’s coming…hold on!
