Know your ‘ROOTS’… that’s the overall theme of the original 1977 miniseries, as well as the 2016 remake of the classic slave story.

British actor Malachi Kirby made his debut as Kunte Kinte reloaded with the help of Lavar Burton, who appeared in the first production.? There are also several high profiles names associated with the 2016 version including Will Packer, Clifford ‘T.I.’ Harris, Forrest Whittaker, Laurence Fishburn & more.

Tip “T.I.” Harris, Will Packer, Phaedra Parks & More Attend #ROOTS Advance Screening… [PHOTOS + VIDEO]

In celebration of HISTORY?s new miniseries, ‘ROOTS’,?Cast Member Tip ?T.I.? Harris?and?Executive Producer Will Packer?hosted an?advance screening of the first episode?of the show last night (Monday, May 9, 2016).

Following the screening, which?was held at Atlanta’s Center for Civil and Human Rights, guests were treated to an eye-opening panel discussion moderated by?BET and The Rickey Smiley Morning Show personality Jeff Johnson.

T.I.;?Will Packer;?Ed Lover, Hip Hop legend & host of the nationally syndicated ?The Ed Lover Show?; V-103 morning show personality?Ryan Cameron?of The Ryan Cameron Morning Show;?Dr. Samuel Livingston?of Morehouse College?and President of the Atlanta chapter of the National Action Network (NAN), and Tamarre Torchon all shared their insight on the importance of re-telling the story of ROOTS in this day and age.

Civil Rights Leader and Former Mayor of Atlanta,?Ambassador Andrew Young, was also in attendance and made a couple of remarks at the close of the Q&A.

Producer Will Packer celebrated his birthday surrounded by a slew of family & friends this past weekend in Miami.

Packer, who has established himself as one of Hollywood’s blockbuster hit makers with movies like?Straight Outta Compton, Ride Along2, Takers & Think Like A Man under his belt (just to name a few),?was thrown a surprise birthday dinner at Hakkasan Miami Beach and several of his Atlanta area friends flew down to surprise him.

Atlanta was the latest spot for an advanced screening of Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated new sequel, RIDE ALONG 2 this past Wednesday (January 13, 2016).

The event was held at Regal Atlantic Station and included a special introduction by cast members Tika Sumpter, Sherri Shepherd and producer Will Packer.

The event, held at Regal Atlantic Station, also included a Q&A session with cast members stars O?Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell (who star as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E), as well as Ice Cube (producer), F. Gary Gray (Director) and Will Packer (Executive Producer)

The screening was well attended by many of Atlanta’s who’s who including music’s top celebrities and influencers including: Mayor Kasim Reed, Usher Raymond, Ludacris, B.o.B., 2Chainz, David Banner, DaBrat, Lil Scrappy, Polow Da Don & More.

A special Q&A session was moderated by Packer after the film and the ‘Straight Outta Compton’ cast members shared tales of working on the amazing NWA biopic.
