Several celebs and notable who’s who were spotted court side at the Lakers vs. Hawks game last night (March 8, 2011).
Monica and the kids took a break from the sunny skies of L.A. to watch her hubby, L.A. Lakers baller Shannon Brown, play against the home team while Polow Da Don, Roger Bob (Tyler Perry Studios) and Young Jeezy also enjoyed premium seating.

Meet Atlanta resident Jarrett Matthew Jack, age 27.? Jack is a New Orleans Hornets guard who helped lead Georgia Tech to the 2004 NCAA title game.
He was arrested in Gwinnett County early Sunday (February 20, 2011) on charges of DUI, speeding and failure to maintain lane.
According to the police report, Jack, was stopped while driving a black Mercedes-Benz shortly after 4 a.m. for speeding on U.S. 78 westbound near McGee Road, in Snellville. He was driving 66 in a 45 mph zone.
“The officer paced the vehicle, verifying that it was speeding, and observed the vehicle cross the center line and the fog line,” Snellville Police Chief Roy Whitehead wrote in an email.
“He stopped the vehicle and smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver, Jarrett Matthew Jack. He conducted field sobriety tests, which Mr. Jack failed.”
Jack was given the test at the Gwinnett County Jail because the police department’s Intoxilyzer was not working on site. According to Whitehead, Jack registered a .079 at 5:38 a.m., 90 minutes after the traffic stop.
“In general, alcohol dissipates from the system at approximately .02 grams per hour,” Whitehead wrote. “Therefore, he would have been over the limit of .08 at the time of the driving infraction.”
Whitehead also noted that drivers can be charged with DUI-less safe if they register anything above .04 and are seen speeding and weaving.
Jack was selected 22nd overall in the NBA draft after leaving Tech following his junior season. He was the sixth Yellow Jacket to break 1,000 points and 500 assists in a career. As a junior, Jack led Tech in scoring (15.5), assists (4.5), steals (1.8) and 3-point shooting (44.2 percent).
New Orleans is his fourth NBA team. Jack, who backs up Chris Paul at point guard, is averaging 7.6 points and 2.8 assists.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s oldest son and namesake, Martin Luther King, III is reportedly interested in becoming a minority owner of the New York Mets.
The New York Post reported Sunday that King was part of a group of heavy hitters interested in minority sports ownership:
The son of the late civil-rights leader is uniting with some heavy hitters, including Mets legend Ed Kranepool; entrepreneur Donn Clendenon Jr., son of the 1969 Mets World Series MVP; TV executive Larry Meli; and a number of unnamed deep-pocketed investors.
“It’s fitting with the legacy of Jackie Robinson essentially transferring to the Mets; what better place to have African-American ownership than with the Mets,” Meli said, noting that Major League Baseball has no African-American owners.
“The time and place are right for it. It just seems to be the right mix of people. The time is right, and the names in this group are Amazin’.”
In a statement released to The Associated Press, King confirmed that there has been much discussion about his participation in the acquisition of the Mets but said it was premature to make those discussions public.? In his statement, King also said he values diversity amongst owners in pro sports.
I believe in the merit and American value of creating an example, and, if I personally, or as part of a collective, can advance the vision of a more diverse ownership group in professional sports, domestically or internationally, then, like my father, I am prepared to act in that spirit.
Meli said that King, 53, who runs the King Center in Atlanta, will travel to New York this week to meet with Mets owner Fred Wilpon and his son, chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon.
The Wilpons announced Friday that they were looking to sell a 20 percent to 25 percent interest in the team. The announcement came after they were named in a lawsuit from the trustee trying to reclaim money for the victims of the Bernard Madoff swindle. (source 1 and 2)

Philadelphia-area native Kobe Bryant showed his support for Micheal Vick last night as he rocked the Philly Eagles QB’s #7 jersey after the Lakers game in NYC.
According to the BlackSportsOnline, a few days earlier, Kobe sent Michael Vick an autographed Lakers jersey that the Eagles quarterback prominently displayed on the chair at his locker stall on Friday.
The Bryant Lakers jersey was signed, “To Mike Be Epic! Kobe 24.”
Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson was also given a Bryant jersey by the former Lower Merion High basketball star.
As you know, the Eagles lost to the Packers last night in the first round of the playoffs. That means it’ll Green Bay vs. Atlanta at the dome next week. We would have preferred the Eagles… but such is life!
