Depending on who you ask the answer is probably “yes”.?? CeeLo Green aka “The Lady Killa” has officially signed on as one of the judges for a new NBC competitive reality program called ?The Voice.?
Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Lo and Adam Levine have put pen to the paper and are confirmed judges for the new show, while Christina Aguliera is listed as a possible 3rd judge on the “Idol” like program.
?I am so happy that Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green have joined the coach panel for The Voice,? executive producer Mark Burnett tells EW.
?Aside from being incredible voices, they bring years of experience in the music industry and a really cool vibe that has never been seen before on a music competition series.?
The show is scheduled to debut on NBC April 26 at 9pm.? It won?t be going head to head against ?American Idol,? however its obvious where they draw their inspiration.
In comparison, “The Voice,” hosted by Carson Daly, is expected to be similar to “Idol” and “X Factor” in that contestants are judged by their vocal ability.? However, the show, which is based on the hit Netherlands program “The Voice of Holland,” strays from the traditional singing-competition format.
“The Voice” will feature a panel of four celebrity judges, who will sit with their backs to the talented hopefuls in order to focus on their vocals. If they approve of the audition, the judges will push a button that will send the competitor to the next round, claiming them as one of their students.
In the case where more than one judge likes the singer, then the competitor gets the opportunity to choose between judges.
Cee Lo also released a statement confirming his participation in the program:
?It?s an honor for me to be able to help mold a malleable and new talent in such a fashion as The Voice. Being a coach on The Voice is a substantial responsibility, and I take it with sincerity and distinction.?
Congrats Cee-Lo! I’m sure his stint as a judge will be quite entertaining…
