Singer Monica took over Cali yesterday, as her presence was requested by Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Monica performed in celebration of the launch of the “Get Schooled” program, a nation-wide initiative, co-developed by Viacom and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which aims to engage students, families and community members in efforts to improve America’s public education system and encourage more young people to complete their education.
The launch consisted of a block party and concert included more than 400 Los Angeles-area public school students, parents, teachers and school administrators as well as various special guests and celebrities, including Morgan Freeman, Seal & Heidi Klum, Tachina Arnold, Kevin Liles, BET’s Debra Lee and more. Chris Brown was joined on the set of an upcoming video shoot with a few “A” town favorites, Monica, Keri Hilson and super producer Polow Da Don. Some say that this was a Keri Hilson shoot, but my sources tell me that this was the shoot for the hot new track I shot y’all last week (Ester Dean’s “Drop It Low” ft. Chris Brown).? I dunno who’s right or who’s wrong, but I heard they’re keeping us guessing cause Polow doesn’t want Ester’s image out there yet. Whatever the reasons behind his decision, he’s dead “A”zz serious about it. Dontcha think that’s a bit strange?? Even I can’t find a pic of that heffa no dayum where…? Wassup with that Polow?

Keri’s looking great as usual. She’s scheduled to be at the grand opening of Carol’s Daughter in Lenox Square Mall Sunday August 23rd at 12 pm. Y’all need to check that out.
Monica filmed the finale of her upcoming reality show “Still Standing” last weekend. I’m so excited for her! She’s worked hard on this upcoming cd and from what I’ve heard, it’s going to be hawt!? Mo is on artist that I personally STAN for, for no other reason than her authenticity. She is the real deal and her fans know it. In discussing her new album, Mo states:
?I just wanted to thank everyone for all the love everyone gives me, a lot of celebrities get it twisted and forget it?s the fans who make them…”

In partnership with Upscale magazine, super producer Polow Da Don along with his label, Zone 4, Inc, launched the F.O.C.U.S. foundation last week. F.O.C.U.S = Focusing On Completion Until Successful and concentrates on promoting a desire for education, interpersonal skills, networking and marketability within the community.
Polow was said to be out of the country but in his absence, R&B diva Monica held down the “Night of Stars” event, which took place at Club Opera. Most (including me) were totally unaware that Mo was also grabbing footage for her new BET reality show ‘Still Standing’ so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for my cameo.

Guests were treated to a fashion show which featured select styles from local boutiques, such as Jason Geter’s Striver’s Row and T.I.s AKOO label. There were also treats available in the form of liquor cakes created by “Get Cake” founder Renee Rosenthal and DJ Don Cannon kept the crowd hyped.
