Singer Monica took over Cali yesterday, as her presence was requested by Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Monica performed in celebration of the launch of the “Get Schooled” program, a nation-wide initiative, co-developed by Viacom and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which aims to engage students, families and community members in efforts to improve America’s public education system and encourage more young people to complete their education.

The launch consisted of a block party and concert included more than 400 Los Angeles-area public school students, parents, teachers and school administrators as well as various special guests and celebrities, including Morgan Freeman, Seal & Heidi Klum, Tachina Arnold, Kevin Liles, BET’s Debra Lee and more.
