Erykah recorded “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” with the band and her sister Nayrok appears alongside the songstress as her body double in the video for the song in the George Salisbury directed visual.
The video created quite a buzz online and off and Erykah faced the wrath of many of her diehard fans. ?Now Badu is upset and says she feels violated because the end result was not what she agreed to.
Badu and Wayne Colton went head to head on Twitter yesterday and the end result was the following statement:
The video link that was erroneously posted on Pitchfork by the Flaming Lips of the Music Video ‘The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face’, which features Erykah Badu, is unedited and unapproved.. Sorry!! We, the Flaming Lips, accept full responsibility for prematurely having Pitchfork post it.
It has outraged and upset a segment of fans and we apologize if we offended any viewers!!! This is a Flaming Lips video which features Erykah Badu and her sister Nayrok and is not meant to be considered an Erykah Badu or Nayrok statement, creation, or approved version.
Erykah responded by telling The Flaming Lips to kiss her “glittery ass” and her sister’s too!

Erykah Badu has always been a bit?of a strange bird and has never backed away from controversy.
The singer, who once?walked naked down the streets of Dallas, Texas has??apparently rubbed religious groups in Kuala Lampour the wrong way after being photographed with religious symbols covering her body.
The Star published the photograph of Badu with two tattoos with the Arabic word for ‘Allah’, or God, in their Star2 entertainment section earlier this week and afterwards, Malay groups opposed allowing the R&B singer to perform in thier country.
Several Muslim groups in Malaysia consider the word ‘Allah’ sacred and have protested the use of the word by non-Muslims in the past. Tattooing is similarly taboo.
Erykah’s racy photo even bought the managing editor of the mag a phone call from Malaysia’s Home Ministry, who also called the?chief news editor and senior editor of the?Star asking them all?to explain why they published the picture. Continue Reading…
Lil Wayne, is featured in the November 2011 issue of GQ Magazine as they honor “The Survivors”, a selection of the “greatest living music masters and hip-hop geniuses.
Others artists featured in the issue include Erykah Badu, Eminem, Reakwon and The Dungeon Family, whose full article you can read HERE.
GQ describes ?The Survivors? as:
The ones who keep going, evolve, even flourish, long enough for us to still be listening to them ten, twenty, even fifty years later. Forty-six artists about whom you?ll never say, ?I only like their early work.?
The legends?or legends-in-the-making?who refuse to die, quit, back down or shut up.
I guess that describes most of them.
