Upscale Magazine, BET Networks, and Hennessy Black honored Monica with a red carpet celebration for gracing the Holiday issue of Upscale Magazine and the preview of her new reality series “Still Standing, which premieres on BET Tuesday, October, 27th. The event took place at Atlanta’s Bocado Restaurant and the celebration brought out tons of Monica’s fans, friends and family as well as Atlanta’s music community in anticipation of her new show.

I now pronounce this FLASHBACK Friday. Way before Cee-Lo came to his senses and decided to reunite with the group (Goodie Mob Reunion Concert Footage), there was a short documentary developed around the Goodie Mob which carried the name of their “One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show” project.? The entire Dungeon Family, including Outkast, participated in the video and I give the directors much props for putting all this great footage together. Video ~ Goodie Mob Documentary (Part 1)
Synopsis:Goodie Mob, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is widely considered one of the founding hip hop acts of the Dirty South movement. Members Cee-Lo (Thomas Callaway), Khujo Goodie (Willie Knighton, Jr.), T-Mo Goodie (Robert Barnett), and Big Gipp (Cameron Gipp) make up the group, which has been functioning since 1995.
“GOODIE MOB”, as it’s written on their album covers, stands for “GOOD DIE Mostly Over Bullshit”. Cee-Lo notes in a song off the Soul Food album that, “[If] you take out one ‘O’ it stands for ‘GOD Is Every Man Of Blackness.’ ”
Its members were all born in Atlanta, and the group is based there with the rest of the Dungeon Family, a collective which includes OutKast and P.A. (Parental Advisory). Goodie was first heard featured on several songs from OutKast’s first album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.
Cee-Lo was the most visible member of the group prior to his departure in 2000 (among other projects, he is now recording as Gnarls Barkley), while Big Gipp has made several rounds on other Dungeon Family members’ albums and a solo album Mutant Mindframe, and T-Mo and Khujo form a duo within the group called The Lumberjacks.
Juanita Bynum’s ex-husband Bishop Thomas Weeks III remarried over the weekend in a quiet ceremony. Weeks, head of Global Destiny Worldwide, an international church empire, chose to keep the nuptials hush hush, inviting only his church family and friends instead of the media spotlight that followed him during the stormy break-up of his marriage to pastor Juanita Bynum in 2008.? His new bride, Christina Glenn is a self-described prophetess, who like Bynum has a ministry of her own. Weeks has incorporated Glenn into his enterprise, which hawks everything from videos to Christian conference tickets and the couple even appears together on a videotaped seminar showing Christians how to start loving relationships called ?You Can Begin Again.?
In a bizarre move, Weeks chose to have a private ceremony while offering to sell his wedding video online for $10. In comparison, his wedding to Bynum was an extravagent million dollar ceremony that ended in drama. Being that Weeks is the man behind Juanita Bynum’s “Domestic Violence” campaign, we can only pray that his new ‘prophetess’ bride can foresee the violence way before it begins.
The newlyweds are now on their honeymoon in an undisclosed location.
NeNe Leakes says shes pissed off about Bravo’s portrayal of her during the 2nd season of the hit series The Real Housewives of Atlanta and she’s not taking it anymore! Leakes, who is shown during the final episode arguing with fellow castmates Kandi Burruss and allegedly choking Kim Zolciak says it’s not fair that she’s being made out the be the villain.? In a recent Essence interview, NeNe lets it all out about how the show is scripted (no surprise) and edited in a way that’s not flattering to her true self:
Why are you so upset about the show’s portrayal of you now?
Yes, I know that’s what they do, but the first season they didn’t edit me. It happened this season because we have a different show runner and this season has been a lot more planned and scripted. Last season they just let us go which made for a great show, but this time around, the show runner will say something like, you need to go over there and talk to Kim about “Tardy for the Party.” They’ve also been making a lot of changes to the sequence of events. For instance, we all arrived to Sheree’s fashion show late because there was a huge car accident, and when we arrived they all ushered us to our seats and the show began immediately, but when you see the episode they show me talking to Kandi which is not what happened.
