Love and Hip Hop Atlanta reality show star Benzino was seriously injured after being shot by his nephew Saturday (March 29, 2014).

Zino, real name Raymond Scott, is part of a reality show cast known for drama, but this time there weren’t any scripts or cameras involved.

Benzino was in Massachusetts over the weekend to attend his mother’s funeral and was reportedly shot while driving in the funeral procession!

News of the shooting spread rapidly over the weekend and many fans feared the worst. But soon photos surfaced of the LHHATL cast member in the hospital proving that he was at least alive and well after the traumatic incident.

Now, Benzino has spoken out about the shooting and reveals that it was a family dispute that got out of hand.

WXIA-TV reports that the 48 year old reality show star and CEO of Hip-Hop Weekly, was traveling on Route 3 south of Boston just before noon when Gai Scott, 36, pulled alongside and fired several shots into a red SUV driven by Benzino.

According to a statement released by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Benzino reportedly suffered several non-fatal gunshot wounds.

Benzino got out of the SUV after being struck and was taken to the Duxbury Police Department and then transferred to a hospital with gunshot wounds.

His condition as reported as ‘stable’ at this time.

Benzino spoke with WXIA and revealed that there had been growing family tension between he, his nephew and his aunt.

Benzino revealed a bit of the issue in the interview above, stating:

In the past I felt like, yes, I felt like my sister and my nephew was taking advantage of my mother. Yes.

There had been loans taken out on her house.

Police responding to the scene found the red SUV in the middle of Route 3 with bullet holes and a reddish brown substance believe to be blood inside the vehicle. Officials said shell casings and projectiles also were found at the scene.

Benzino’s nephew, Gai Scott, was taken into custody and charged with assault with intent to murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned today (Monday, March 31, 2014) in the Plymouth District Court.

Many feel this this is an elaborate plot for LHHATL ratings, but I highly doubt it. Whatever the case, we’re all thankful that our loveable Zino is still alive and well.
