What the hell is going on with Soulja Boy? I would love to know what was going through his head as he was posing for that shot. First it was that “suspect” XXL cover shot of he and 50 cent…and now this?
I don’t know who on Soulja’s team gave this the “thumbs up” but I vote “no” (or better yet) HELLLLL NO!
Some feel that Soulja Boy has successfully filled just about ever negative stereotype there is by posing for the shot. RollingOut even goes so far as to call him a “hip-hop coon”:
Soulja Boy’s image is increasingly becoming reminiscent of a blackface entertainer who performed in minstrel shows during the 19th and early 20th century. During a recent photo shoot with Vibe magazine, an “artist” tattooed the word “Swag” across Soulja Boy’s entire face.
Although the purpose was likely used to pay homage to the irrationally popular face tattoos, the visual becomes a sad allegory of the buffoonery that Soulja Boy and other rappers such as Waka Flocka, OJ Da Juiceman, and Lil B have come to represent. (read more)
