New Edition member Ronnie Devoe joined the cast of BET Network’s upcoming ‘The New Edition Story’ for a private screening last Thursday evening.

BET invited a few die hard Atlanta ‘NE’ fans for a sneak preview of the unaired biopic, which will be aired in 3-parts later this month.

New Edition, the famed band that included Devoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Mike Bivins, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill are portrayed in the film by a select group of youngsters who embodied the essence of their youth.

The star-filled cast includes Bryshere Y. Gray, Elijah Kelley, Luke James, Keith Powers, Algee Smith, Woody McClain as NEW EDITION along with La La Anthony, Caleb McLaughlin, Yvette Nicole Brown, Monica Calhoun, Lisa Nicole Carson, Sandi McCree, Wood Harris, Michael Rapaport, Faizon Love, Duane Martin, Tank and Bre-Z.

The much-anticipated biopic will bring to life the story of the group that laid the foundation for how modern-day boy bands look, feel, and sound for over 30 years.

New Edition Members (Minus Bobby Brown) Co-Produce Biopic For BET…

New Edition is coming to a television near you and it’s way sooner than you think!

It was just a few months ago that an up and coming writer/director sent out a sizzle reel hoping to get New Edition’s story on the big screen (click HERE if you missed that), it seems that the group may already had plans in the works to air their story.

The iconic music group has secured a deal with BET and New Edition members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant have all signed on as co-producers for the film that is being developed into a three-night miniseries premiering on the cable network in 2016.

NEWSFLASH! An up & coming Atlanta filmmaker is hoping to bring New Edition‘s story to the big screen.

Bobby Huntley is an independent filmmaker from Atlanta with a passion for compelling stories and visuals. He’s also a New Edition fan and wants to use his skills to bring their story to life.

Being a lifelong of fan of New Edition and then finally being able to witness firsthand, the immense talent of the group, last year at a concert in Atlanta, Bobby Huntley was filled with the same exhilaration and excitement that was swelling around him.

This talented young director knew it was time for New Edition?s story to join the echelon of other legendary music biopic films, such as: ?The Five Heartbeats?, ?The Temptations? and the Oscar winning film ?Ray?.

Huntly has created a trailer called ‘NE Heartbreak – The New Edition Story’ as a precursor to the film and hopes that his team will one day be able to turn his vision into a full feature film.

DJ Nabs and Lil Jon, two notable legends in hip-hop history, were honored last night in Atlanta (May 21, 2014).

The ‘Respect the DJ’ event was held yesterday evening at Opera Nightclub in Atlanta and a huge mix of The A’s top DJs showed up and showed out.

In addition to honorees Lil Jon & DJ Nabs, attendees included DJ Jelly, DJ Swiff, DJ Sense, DJ Montay, Shawty Putt, Fort Knox, Ronnie Devoe (BBD), Kawan ‘KP’ Prather (A&R @ Atlantic Records) and more.

Nightlife and entertainment executives Shanti Das and Marlon Nichols launched the season 4 opener of ATL Live on the Park earlier this week (March 19, 2013).

The popular event, which is known to be a night full of live funk, R&B and soul performances, did not disappoint as newcomers Chrystian of NZ Beersa/Sony Red and RaVaughn of Ne-Yo’s Compound University/Columbia Records hit the stage to showcase their unique vocal talents.
