I haven’t forgotten that it’s Friday. Not me! I’m just a bit slow this morning. Anyway, add this video to your flashback collection. It’s the Dungeon Family’s “Trans DF Express” and features Outkast, Goodie Mob, Sleepy Brown, Rico Wade, Slim Cutta Calhoun, C-Bone…and whoever else you can pick out. You’ll probably see one or all at Greenbriar this weekend anyway but I’m still mad I missed their Vibe photoshoot/barbeque at Piedmont Park the other day.
Remember Michel’le from back in the day? The singer had a squeaky, high-pitched speaking voice which totally changed once she opened her mouth to sing. Anyway, the old school singer has filed child support charges against her ex-hubby, Marion Suge Knight and is seeking over $40,000 of unpaid court-order spousal and child support for their 7 year old daughter, Balei (pictured above):
Singer Michel?le?has filed child support charges against her Ex-husband Marion Suge Knight, reports the Wall Street Journal. Michel?le is asking for $40,476 in three-months of unpaid court-ordered spousal and?child support.? In addition to the $40,476,?she is asking that she receive $13,492 in child support each month for?her?child Balei, whom she had with?the former head of Death Row records?seven years ago. In 1997, Toussaint ?agreed to marry Knight while he was serving a prison sentence for assault and battery.? Soon after Bailei?s birth in 2002, her? relationship with Suge Knight ended.
In the coming months, Michel?le will be? heading to bankruptcy court since?Suge?is believed to be bankrupt; Suge filed for bankruptcy?three years ago.
Michel?le?also has another son named Marcel, with whom she had with rapper/producer?Dr. Dre. (Source)
A lot of people are surprised to hear of Michel’le’s links to both Dre and Suge but she and Dre were in a longterm relationship way before he even left the World Class Wrecking Crew. Michel’le was even featured on a WCWC song, “Turn off the lights” and her 1st CD album was produced by her then boyfriend Dre. I’m almost positive her relationship with the both of them was one of the factors in Death Row’s demise.
Isn’t it obvious why I decided to post “Goodies” as todays flashback? It isn’t? OK I’ll explain: I did it because I want you guys to reminisce about way back when…to a time when y’all used to actually like Ciara so that you can go cop that album. 😕
Usher got his own post so I guess it’s only fair that Tameka gets some shine today too. A friend of mine has a great blog that reveals her secrets to success and longevity in Atlanta’s music scene. She’s seen it all and has shared some of the most outrageous stories of her experiences coupled with what she’s learned from them. One of my favorites is a post she wrote about an experience she had working with Mrs. Usher:
That?s right?Tameka Foster, Glover, Raymond once made me cry on the set of a video for a short lived group called the ATL.? We were already 3 hours behind and she was not allowing the group to get dressed because?hummm?her creative vision AS A WARDROBE STYLIST?was being compromised!? I believe that was the line she gave me!? I was the second assistant director and my SOLE job for the day was to the get the Artists? and the models to set, and of course they?couldn?t get there??if they didn?t have their clothes on! I begged and pleaded with?Tameka?which seemed to only fuel her fire.
Monica filled in for V-103’s Ryan Cameron last week and did a marvelous job! During one set, she and TLC member, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins chopped it up about hating “A”zz bloggers, men and relationships. The two got into a heated discussion about how Atlanta has being bombarded by groupies and ho’s and women who will still date married or attached men. Monica goes on to say:
‘It was never OK to be a sideline, now that’s a way of life….there are alot of women who will happily date/ trick off with Rocko in a heartbeat even though he has a woman and two children and a wedding about to happen. They’re OK with that. First of all the morale is a problem…but if I catch you it’s a bigger problem!”
Monica’s been gangsta with it for a while now. Ain’t nuthin changed! Don’t mess with her man cause she ain’t havin’ it!? Ho-ism is runnin’ rampant in the “A” and it needs to stop. I can totally feel where Mo & T-Boz were comin from. Especially seeing how this city has changed over the years…but some responsibility still falls on the cheatin “A”zz man!
In case you forgot, Mo even wrote a song dedicated to groupie ho’s tryna steal her man. Wanna hear it? Here it go… “You’s a ho..you’s a ho! Sideline Ho!” Check out a LIVE Monica “Sideline Ho” flashback after the jump:
This is for all you “big case G’s” who were “lower case G’s” back then. In honor of Freaknik…. In honor of Freakin “A” Month… and just because I wanna… I pulled up Montel Jordan’s“This Is How We Do It” ~ The unofficial/official theme song for Freaknik 95…or was it 96? Hell. All I can’t remember and all y’all was drunk anyway so does it really matter?? 😆
