Look at that dang Facebook… causing trouble again! Two students were recently suspended and one student expelled after they posted negative remarks on their Facebook pages about a teacher.

That’s a true violation, but a man in Baltimore was recently asked for his social media passwords when he reapplied for his former job as a corrections offer, and to make matters worse, he had to watch as his personal page and its postings were perused by an investigator during the interview!
These dayum jobs are going way to far! What’s next? Bank account and voice mail PINs?

Yeah.. I’m confused too! Who the hell would want to name their child “Facebook”? *sigh*
A twenty-something Egyptian man would.. and did! He has officially named his first born daughter ?Facebook? as a tribute to the role the social media service played in organizing the protests in Tahrir Square and beyond.
According to Al-Ahram (one of the most popular newspapers in Egypt):
A young man in his twenties wanted to express his gratitude about the victories the youth of 25th of January have achieved and chose to express it in the form of naming his firstborn girl ?Facebook? Jamal Ibrahim (his name.)
The girl?s family, friends, and neighbors in the Ibrahimya region gathered around the new born to express their continuing support for the revolution that started on Facebook.
?Facebook? received many gifts from the youth who were overjoyed by her arrival and the new name. A name [Facebook] that shocked the entire world.
There are about five million Facebook users in Egypt, more so than any other country in the Middle East/North Africa region. Facebook itself has reported an increase in Egyptian users in the past month, with 32,000 Facebook groups and 14,000 pages created in the two weeks after January 25th. (source)
I guess it’s not unusual for popular culture to dictate baby names, but “Facebook”? I guess Twitter, Youtube, Bing and Google aren’t too far behind.

Facebook is known for many things, most notably stalking ex-lovers and former classmates. Now it’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, has been strangely affected by his own social network!
Zuckerberg filed a restraining order against a 31-year-old Facebook user who he claims had been stalking him through the popular website. In legal docs, Zuckerberg said Pradeep Manukonda, tried to “follow, surveil and contact Mr. Zuckerberg using language threatening his personal safety” … and the safety of his girlfriend and his sister.
Pradeep had also personally visited several Facebook offices in Palo Alto attempting to contact Mark to ask for money for his financially-strapped family. On January 24th, Facebook security even caught the stalker on the front steps of Mark’s home!
At that time, authorities gave Pradeep a verbal warning but he continued to try to contact Zuckerberg and once sent flowers to his home with a hand-written letter on January 28.
In one of his disturbing Facebook messages to Mark, Pradeep wrote,
“please help me, then I am ready to die for you.” He continues, “Please understand my pain.”
