This show is clearly a launchpad for the talented individuals, who otherwise would be chugging along on their own without television as a promo tool.
City High’s Claudette Ortiz even revealed during a recent interview with Bossip that she was homeless during her musical hiatus and practically living in her car prior to landing her role on the show.
Prior to the show, I had really hit rock bottom and I was at a crossroads where I just had to [do the show]. All the little odd jobs that I was doing?were not enough to raise my children. So, I had to make a choice of am I going to continue going this way?
I was having a rough night. I had to leave the place I was at, and I was driving with the things in my trunk and my kids were asleep and I had nowhere to go. And that night Phil Thorton (producer) from the show texted me, but that night I was upset and I was crying.
R&B Divas: L.A. is like a breath of fresh air in comparison to it’s Atlanta predecessor and hopefully it will give the ladies the platform they need to share their talents.
