Former SoSo Def standout Shawntae “DaBrat” Harris is fresh out of jail after a serving the majority of a 3 year bid for assaulting a waitress with a bottle at Jermaine Dupri’s “Studio 72” nightclub.

Ladies love Da Brat! At least that’s what she says.
The formerly incarcerated rapper recently revealed to TMZ that prison was a field day for her because all the female inmates wanted a shot at her “goodies”.
Da Brat, who was just released last week after completing a three year prison stint for attacking a waitress with a bottle in 2007, insists that did NOT strike up a romance with another female inmate during her time behind bars, but it wasn’t because they didn’t want her!
“Every female in prison wanted me … all of them wish they could have gotten these goodies.”
But Brat insists her goodies were never gotten. [insert side-eye here].
We all know that Da Brat tasted every color of the rainbow while she was on lockdown. Hell, I watch “Lock Up” so I know how they do in those female prisons!
But I digress…
Many of Brats famous friends reached out during her time, Omar Epps and his wife (Keisha from Total), Lisa Raye, Katt Williams, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon also helped her out.
While Jermaine never visited Brat [click here for his explanation], she says that he sent her the most money out of everyone.
Brat is currently under house arrest for the next 3 to 6 months but says the first thing she plans on doing when she can leave her home is “making it rain at a club.”
Let’s just hope there are no more bottles involved.

Guess what folks… Shawntae “Da Brat” Harris is officially out of jail.? Jermaine Dupri announced it to the world last night via his Twitter account:
Da Brat’s release date was originally August 2011, but she was released early due to good behavior. If you recall, Brat used her musical talents to organize prison talent shows. That went over so well with prison officials, that Brat was granted the freedom to leave prison grounds for a few hours during the week on a work release program…

Now Da Brat has finally completed her time and is home full time. Harris, 36, served nearly a three year sentence after she beat a b*tch with a bottle (literally) back in 2007.
Harris got into an argument with a waitress at Studio 72, an Atlanta-area club formerly owned by her mentor Jermaine Dupri. A shouting match between Brat and the waitress escalated into shoving and witnesses testified that the rapper then picked up a rum bottle and hit the worker across the face with it, leaving the woman with permanent facial scars.
During her stint in jail, her bff/mentor Jermaine never took the time out to visit her but he explained his reasons in several interviews.

Obviously Da Brat understood and the two are still cooler than a fan. It’s going to be interesting to see how (and if) Da Brat fits back into the grand scheme of things over at SoSo Def.

When I first saw this pic on JD’s twitter timeline, I thought it was an old pic. Then I saw the next tweet:
Last I heard, DaBrat was organizing prison talent shows but apparently now she’s out of jail… well at least for a few hours Monday-Friday.? DaBrat’s been such a stellar prisoner that she’s been granted work release.
She hit the SoSo Def studio last night with Jermaine to catch up and I’m sure they had a lot to talk about since we all know he never visited her in jail.

Jermaine Dupri appeared on V-103 last week and was hit with a few questions about Da Brat?s incarceration. Brat, who’s been in jail on an assault charge stemming from an incident that occurred in Jermaine’s Studio 72 (recent mugshot) since September 2008, is still serving the remainder of her 3 year sentence but I’ve heard she’s doing ok and has even been coordinating Jail house talent shows.
