Oprah Winfrey made history at the Golden Globes as the latest recipient of the annual Cecil B. DeMille Award last night (January 7, 2018).
The entertainment mogul became the first black woman ever to receive the highly coveted Hollywood award, which was created in 1952 to honor those with “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.”
Former recipients include Meryl Streep, Sidney Poitier, Alfred Hitchcock, Lucille Ball, Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Woody Allen, Jodie Foster, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and Warren Beatty.
Winfrey delivered a rousing speech that had many (including me) cheering in front of their tv screens.
