Meet 25 year old Kathelia Grier. Kathelia was arrested in Atlanta yesterday after her 2 year old son was spotted running down the street behind her car!
A neighbor, Verna Robinson, said she peered out of her window and saw the child running down Northwest Drive in northwest Atlanta and she quickly called for help. Her husband, Ali, went outside to get the child out of the road and called for a neighbor to “stop that baby” because the 2-year old “was booking it” so fast that he couldn’t catch him.
Ali Robinson took the child to the nearby Auntie Sheree Day Care up the block, where he said someone there said they weren?t missing any children. Ali Robinson said they looked at the boy and said ?he’s not one of ours.?
But he was. The day care said they didn’t recognize the child at first because he had just had a haircut.
The toddler’s mother, identified as Kathelia Grier, told police she was running late to drop her kids off at the day care, and that one of the assistants at the day care said they could not accept the children because the drop off deadline had passed.Investigators said when the assistant went inside to call the owner of the day care to get permission for the mother to leave the kids, the mother got in her vehicle and left, leaving the children at the day care.
The toddler proceeded to run behind the vehicle, at which point residents spotted the toddler, police said.The 2-year-old was not injured in any way.
Grier?s mother, called to the daycare and told Channel 2 Action News that she wanted her daughter ?arrested for neglect.? (source)
The mother, 25-year-old Kathelia Grier, has been charged with reckless conduct and is being held at the Fulton County Jail on $1,000 bond.
