Shawt Dogg was killed off this morning via the social networking site Twitter, and just about everyone was calling my phone talmbout ‘we lost another one’.
The rumor spread all the way back to Short’s hometown of Oakland, where I heard people are actually walking around crying.

This past weekend I had a chance to premiere “DARK GIRLS : The Story of Color , Gender and Race ” at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre (November 19, 2011).
Georgia actor/director/producer Bill Duke and writer/producer/director D. Channsin Berry premiered the highly anticipated documentary to an auditorium filled with thousands of guests, which included Jasmine Guy, Jaquitta Williams (CBS-Atlanta), Kalenna (Diddy/Dirty Money), famed poet Hank Stewart, as well as other notables from the film community.
The dark skin/light skin debate continues in the Black community.
We, as Black Americans continue to “SHADE” each other on the daily on the issue of color…. from Tameka Foster Glover Raymond’s “She’s Pretty For A Dark Skin Girl” essay to Beyonce’s “Blackface” controversy to? Fantasia catching way more flack than a much lighter skinned singer (*cough* Alicia Keys) for the same offense of dating a married man.

These types of discussions bring us closer to understanding the blatant discrepancies that exist in our community between how we treat each other based on intra-racial prejudices. Once we can fully understand WHY it exists, perhaps it will be easier to collectively change our ways of thinking.

On last night’s episode of the popular reality show, the happy couple had a mini-argument on-air about Apollo’s most recent run-in with the law.
Back in April 2011, Apollo faced a ton of blog heat when he was pulled over by Federal Marshals on a busy Atlanta highway.
Blogger extraordinaire SandraRose was the first to post about the situation, when one of her loyal readers spotted Apollo on the side of the road ‘with a pistol to his head’ (in my Phaedra Parks voice) and spilled the tea via email.
I noticed two Dekalb police cars had pull over a red BMW 740i and a guy in handcuffs on the ground arguing with the cops. When I passed by, I noticed it was Apollo, Phaidra?s husband from Real Housewifes of Atlanta READ MORE
I don’t even recall how I got in the middle of it, because as you know, I’m NOT one to gossip [insert-side eye] but I do remember placing a call to Phaedra… and another one to Sandra… and another to Phaedra.
Of course the end result was that Apollo was simply detained and questioned… NOT arrested, but in “Haterville” ATL that apparently equates to the same thing.
Oh… and then somehow TMZ got pics of the incident and the rest is history.
So the episode began with Phaedra protecting her husband and ended with Apollo protected her from Peter. Good stuff!

Usher Raymond was spotted on daddy duty yesterday (November 20, 2011) as he strolled the streets of New York with his two adorable sons,?Usher V, (3) and Naviyd, (2).
The cozy threesome cruised through Manhattan on a kiddie shopping spree, with Ursh treating the boys to their heart’s desire.

The “enchanted evening of whimsical fantasy” was held at Atlanta’s Callanwolde Mansion and all of the city’s who’s who came through to wish the reigning hip-hop princess a very special birthday.
Reginae and her extended family, which included Grandmom Cita Carter, lil brother Dwayne Carter III and his mom Sarah Vivan (Weezy baby mama #3?), Toya’s new hubby Memphitz & his daughter, Slim, Birdman & his family all donned their black-tie best.
T.I. and Tiny, as well as Phaedra Parks and Kim Zolciak of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, all brought out their kids to party all night long at Reginae’s fantastic Cinderella themed celebration.
