Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed poses with Attorney/’Housewife’ Phaedra Parks??during the?2016 UNCF Mayor?s Masked Ball this past weekend (December 17, 2016).

Many?of Atlanta’s ‘Who’s Who’ attended the annual fundraising gala, held at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta, which is known to be the premier social event of the holiday season.

The Ball featured a VIP masked award reception, silent holiday auction, red carpet parade of stars and dignitaries, elegant dining, parade of masks, dancing and live entertainment by percussionist and recording artist Sheila E.

Several celebrities attended the swanky event?including: Usher, Tyrese, Future, Jermaine Dupri, Phaedra Parks, Young Jeezy, Angie Stone and many more.

Mayor Reed addresses attendees…

The event was started 33 years ago under Andrew Young’s administration and was co-founded by?Billey S. Aaron, wife of baseball legend Hank Aaron.

Started by Mrs. Aaron along with former Mayor Andrew Young in 1983, the Ball is hosted by the city’s current Mayor and is largely supported by local corporate and civic entities.

A much anticipated holiday event that raises unrestricted dollars for UNCF’s support for local students, the Ball attracts a diverse array of attendees from across the area, including local celebrities, dignitaries, civic and elected officials.

In a tradition she started a few years ago, in lieu of birthday presents for her 80th celebratory dinner, Mrs. Aaron asked that her guests donate to her UNCF scholarship fund. And they did in a big way.

Each year, donations have increased and this year, she reached her goal of one million dollars!
