The final episode of FX’s hit show ‘Atlanta’ aired earlier this week to rave reviews.
During last week’s episode, Earn (Donald Glover) and Van (Zazie Beatz) ‘pretended’ to be husband and wife for a Juneteenth celebration (click HERE if you missed that).
This week, episode 10 focuses on Earn’s lost jacket and his quest to recover whatever he left in it’s pockets leads him through a series of setbacks that ends in somewhat of a win for our favorite character.
In case you missed it, check out the final? episode of Atlanta below…

I’m not going to recap this episode but I have to point out that the show waited until the final minutes of it’s final episode to utilize the legendary music that made Atlanta great… Outkast!
The 1996 Outkast single ?Elevators (Me & You)? bumps throughout the final segment, and is a great soundtrack for Earn’s state of mind as he walks to an unknown destination. Andre 3000 is heard rapping:
True, I’ve got more fans than the average man
But not enough loot to last me
To the end of the week, I live by the beat
Like you live check-to-check
If it don’t move your feet then I don’t eat…
Pretty accurate! Considering Earn has been struggling and grinding hard for PaperBoi’s success throughout the entire 10 episodes.? And this week, he finally gets paid for his efforts.
Outkast’s hit song is an appropriate closing to the series as Earn arrives to his destination… a storage unite… turns on a light, lays down on a futon, and pulls his last $200 (money left over after he provided for his baby’s mom, Van and his young daughter) out from his sneakers.
It seems all of Earn’s troubles are finally starting to pay off (even if he does have to sleep in a storage unit) and it leaves us all cheering and yearning for season 2 of FX’s hit scripted series.
[For the record, “Atlanta” has already been picked up for it’s 2nd season, so it will be interesting to see Earn’s character evolve through his struggles.]
