While Tucker has been quite adamant throughout the years about never participating in a ‘FRIDAY’ remake (click HERE if you missed that), it’s clear from the image he shared online that he still holds the film close to his heart.
And since today just so happens to be Friday, Ice Cube has a special announcement for fans of the 20 year old legendary film.
Details below…
It’s been 20 years since the Ice Cube and Chris Tucker classic Friday came out… (yeah, I feel old too) and in celebration of this milestone, the director’s cut of the 1995 film will hit theatres for ONE NIGHT ONLY on 420 (April 20th) at 7:30 local time nationwide.
In an interview with BuzzFeed News, Friday writer and star Ice Cube said he?s pleasantly surprised about the movie?s enduring legacy.
?For the theaters, for New Line [Cinema], for the fans to want to pay homage to the movie in this way is cool,? he said. ?It lets you know how much people appreciate it and how much fun it is ? and it lets you know that Friday is now a part of the American fabric.?
The one-night-only re-release will feature a special director?s cut of Friday and will also include ?Friday Straight Up,? a 24-minute featurette with behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the movie and interviews with the cast.

In addition to the movie, the FRIDAY soundtrack will also get the anniversary treatment. On April 14, the soundtrack, which was the No. 1 album in the U.S. for two weeks in 1995 and eventually went double platinum, will have a vinyl reissue.
