Another day, another ‘reality’ show gets added to someone’s weekly lineup.
This time it’s VH1’s ‘Sorority Sisters,’ which was battling for survival after several Black Greek organizations petitioned against it. ?But apparently not even 42,000 signatures, could stop this reality show train.
Sorority Sisters follows the lives of “sorors” from four different Atlanta sororities. Unlike most white sororities, African-American sorors pledge for life and are expected to continue with community work long after graduation.
With this fierce loyalty comes intense rivalry among the sisters of the different organizations. From long-awaited reunions and high teas, to managing the men in their lives, it’s homecoming all across the ATL! Our ladies have a lot at stake, from maintaining their image in the community to holding down the bonds and legacies of their sororities.
Meet the cast of ‘Sorority Sisters’ + watch an extended sneak peek of the trailer below…
With a few minor tweaks, ‘Sorority Sisters’ is now a ‘go’ and after almost a year of filming, Mona Scott-Young’s latest creation will air it’s premiere episode tonight (December 15, 2014).
Via Press Release:
VH1 gives viewers a rare glimpse into the unique world of ATL Greek life with the series premiere of ?Sorority Sisters? on Monday, December 15 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Nine women, who continue to honor the traditions and legacies of their respective sororities and chapters, all agree on one main principle: sisterhood doesn?t end after graduation, it?s for life. For these friends and sisters (or ?sorors?) from celebrated historically black colleges and universities in Atlanta, strong ties to their organizations lead to fierce rivalries, but through thick and thin, these women stand united and share an unbreakable bond.
?Sorority Sisters? follows the lives of women from four different sororities. Since these ?sorors? are pledges for life, they are expected to continue their community work long after graduation. From long-awaited reunions, to managing the men in their lives, for these line sisters, it?s homecoming all across the ATL. These ladies have a lot at stake? their aspirations, reputations, livelihoods, friendships, and families?and the legacies of their sororities.
The show will not be mentioning the sororities by name, but it won’t be hard to tell who’s who, since the ladies will be allowed represent their organization by wearing their Greek’s colors.
Instead of college life, the show will be centered around ‘business’ women and several Atlanta area boutique owners who happen to be Greek.
But wait… they even went so far as to find a Caucasian member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority to join the cast and her involvement in an African-American sorority will be a large part of the show?s central conflict.
I know a few of these ladies and if you are from Atlanta, I’m sure you do too. It seems that everyone wants to be a reality star these days… *sigh*
Meet the cast:
This trendy boutique owner is the go to wardrobe stylist for various celebrities and local socialites. Her career naturally comes with its own share of drama, but Adrene has no problem handling conflicts head on.
Being 3,000 miles away from her family in L.A., and after a recent breakup with her ex boyfriend, Adrene often feels the world is against her and oftentimes doesn?t allow people to get to know ?the real Adrene.?
April splits her time providing speech therapy to private clients, while working on her dissertation and running her Buckhead clothing store, House of Couture Boutique.
Now she?s taking it one step further by launching an online store. April?s passion is fashion and she won?t let anyone stand in the way of her dreams!

Priyanka is very comfortable in her own skin. Priyanka will defend her lifestyle, family, beliefs and sorors against any haters. Priyanka is currently looking for a man.
MeToya works for a clinical research organization and is very committed to her sorority. She felt a strong desire to pledge because she yearned to have the relationships and sisters she didn’t have growing up as an only child.
As a single mother, MeToya has honed her skills as a hustler, always juggling odd jobs to pay the bills. In this next chapter of her life, MeToya wants to make stronger relationships with new sorors, weed out bad people in her life and finally get the closure she needs with her child’s father…who she admittedly still has feelings for.
Shanna grew up in Arkansas as an obese kid. Like the movie, ?Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead,? Shanna fell in love with juicing in recent years and lost 70 pounds.
Shanna is very sensitive about being white in an African-American sorority.

To get back on her feet, Lydia has left her daughter with her mother/grandmother in Alabama. As time and money dries up in Atlanta, Lydia gives up on her college dreams of dancing, and goes after her plan B of a career in public relations, to get her daughter to move to ATL. At 5’3″, Lydia is big on achieving her goals.
Cat is a symbol of every young 20-something trying to find her footing post-college in the real world.
After attempting to be a model, and spending years as a lowly assistant to A-list Atlanta photographer Derek Blanks, Cat has finally taken the initiative to pursue a career as a solo professional photographer.
Joy is a teacher by day to pay the bills, but her heart is in acting.
That’s all we get for “Joy”… ummm… ummkay.
Anyway the show air’s tonight and I’m sure there will be several Greek’s posted front and center to see how their organization is portrayed on prime time.
Judging from the trailer, there’s going to be quite a bit of ‘turn up’. I’m already silently chuckling about Adrene saying she pledged ‘a few’ years ago. Girl…. whet??! 😆
