After taking a week off for the Oscars, The Real Housewives of Atlanta finally aired it’s 17th episode of the 6th season last night (March 9, 2014).

The ladies move past the drama of episode 16’s ‘Bailey Bowl,’ as Kenya Moore plans a ‘couples’ get away to Mexico for her fellow ‘housewives.’

Seems an odd idea for Kenya to be planning a ‘couples’ trip since she isn’t actually part of a couple… but ummkay. Let’s roll with it.

Not everyone is excited about the ‘couples’ trip but a free trip is still a free trip.

Phaedra Parks is feeling some kinda way about bringing her husband Apollo Nida on another ‘couples’ vacation with Kenya.

Suddenly single Porsha Stewart is forced to revisit her failed marriage as Peter Thomas reveals he had a sit down with her ex-husband, Kordell Stewart and of course Kenya takes the opportunity to turn Porsha’s divorce into dinner conversation.

LIFE LESSON #1 – No secret is safe when it comes to an opportunist…

Kenya shares a few cocktails with Marlo Hampton to rehash last week’s Bailey Bowl fiasco.

The two newfound friends clearly have a common bond:?their love for Nene Leakes!

Kenya has a peach by default (she doesn’t really live in Atlanta, doesn’t have any real ‘friends’ in Atlanta and never forget her fake fiance Walter Jackson) and wants to keep it by any means necessary. Marlo doesn’t have a peach (but desperately wants one).

Their mutual desire to be reality show superstars may have brought them together, but it’s Nene Leakes who seems to be the ‘key’ to their success on the show (at least that’s the way it seems since Nene is clearly Kenya’s only storyline).

Both Kenya and Marlo seem to be on a mission to earn Nene’s love and acceptance despite the fact that she’s made it clear she wants nothing to do with them.

I’m just amazed that instead of enjoying each other’s company, they choose to make it all about Nene Leakes.

Chile I guess.

Now that Marlo knows Nene’s not falling for her shenanigans, she’s sharing ‘secrets’ with Kenya about how Nene told her she didn’t like Kenya.? Apparently Nene, Cynthia, and Marlo were on a 3-way call when she told Marlo how she felt about Kenya and that Marlo couldn?t be friends with both her (Nene) and Kenya.

LIFE LESSON #2 – There’s always 3 sides to a break-up story. His, hers & the truth.

Peter Thomas decides to have a one on one sit down with Kordell Stewart to talk about marriage, business, and more.

For the first time, Kordell gets to have his say on the sordid details of his divorce from Porsha Stewart, and he reveals that it was way more than what Porsha has been sharing.

Apparently Porsha’s family being too involved in their marriage was a key catalyst to Kordell filing for divorce. In addition to Porsha’s financial mismanagement.

Kordell reveals that Porsha lost her townhome because she never paid the taxes and because of that… he never put her name on any of his property.

He also reveals that while it’s true that they didn’t have a per-nuptial agreement, the fact that her name wasn’t on anything protected his assets.

Porsha tells a different story but we’ll get to that in a minute.

LIFE LESSON #3 – Always have a BFF and a spare…

Kenya’s ‘couples’ trip to Mexico is on and poppin even though she’s not necessarily part of a ‘couple’.

Moore leaves her BFF Marlo Hampton at home and brings “Miss” Lawrence Washington along as her date and the two head out early to set up everything prior to everyone’s arrival.

When the gang arrives, they’re greeted by a mariachi band and Kenya dancing in a bikini and poncho. It was bit over the top but no one expected anything less from Kenya.

Kenya also gets “Miss” Lawrence to rock a poncho and a mustache for a special surprise dance, which leaves everyone wondering about the whereabouts of her invisible African prince.

My question is… why didn’t she bring her BFF Marlo?

LIFE LESSON #4 – When in doubt, lose your passport…

Phaedra almost doesn’t make Kenya’s Mexican getaway due to a few unforeseen events. It seems she “lost” her passport and couldn’t leave with the others.

While that’s a very plausible excuse, it seems Phaedra really didn’t want to go because she didn’t want to risk another Apollo/Kenya encounter.

If you recall, they were accused of overly flirting during that couples trip to Anguilla last season and this season, Kenya was also the catalyst to that huge blow up during Nene’s ‘Pillow Talk’ event.

It’s no surprise that Phaedra wants to sit this one out.

Phaedra?s main problems aren?t with her husband ? it?s with Kenya. She?s clearly worried about what drama ‘Kenya Moore-Whore” (her words… not mine!) is going pull this time.

At the end of the day, Phaedra and Apollo both show up in time for dinner and while it seems things are going to be cool, Kenya does exactly as expected.

Next week, as the guys all hang out together, Kenya slips out and tries to confront Apollo one on one and Phaedra spots them having a conversation…? (but we’ll have to wait til next week for THAT drama).

LIFE LESSON #5 -? Relationship stories change like the wind, and it’s none of your business anyway…

Peter initially brings up the conversation he had with Kordell in the limo on the way to the hotel and it seems (to me at least) that Peter’s taken on the role of being Kordell’s voice on the show.

Peter shares Kordell’s version of events… i.e. the fact Kordell really loved Porsha and only kept her name off of all their property because she wasn?t smart enough to handle the responsibility.

Porsha manages to divert the ‘Kordell’ conversation in the limo but she couldn?t escape it during dinner when all of the couples are present.

During their group dinner, Kenya gets a bit messy and decides to assign seating so that the couples wouldn’t be ‘coupled up” (huh?).

Porsha is placed next to Gregg Leakes, who offers the newly single ‘housewife’ a bit of relationship advice, speaking about how love got he and Nene back together after their own divorce.

Kenya joins in to stir up drama, which places Porsha on the defensive.

Porsha tells everyone that she signed on to help Kordell overcome what was in his past, which leads Kenya to say that Porsha was basically Kordell?s ‘beard’.

Kenya and Peter both end of speaking over Porsha, who doesn’t even get the chance to explain and when Kandi tries to help, then suddenly Kenya is ready to drop the subject.

(I guess since it’s Kenya’s vacation… she can do that.)
