It’s no secret that Kandi Burruss of The Real Housewives of Atlanta is a Grammy award winning singer/songwriter and it’s also no secret that she’s often drawn from her personal experiences in many of the lyrics she’s penned.
Back in the day Kandi wrote a slew of hits for groups like Destiny’s Child and TLC, but did you know that the young songwriter used her failed relationship with a young NFL baller by the name of Chuck Smith as the inspiration for one of her songs?

Well it’s a fact Jack! Don Juan, Kandi’s close friend and manager recently spilled the TEA on twitter, stating:
Which hit song’s lyrics do you think were inspired by Smith? Hint: It’s NOT ‘No Scrubs’…
Find out the answer below + check out Kandi’s recent radio interview where she reveals even more details about her & Smith’s ‘old school’ relationship…
The song Don Juan is referring to is TLC’s ‘Girl Talk,’ which was co-written by Kandi, TLC’s band members Lisa Lopes and Tionne Watkins along with Anita McLoud, Edmund “Eddie Hustle” Clement for the group’s fourth studio album, ‘3D’ (2002).
Check out the ‘Girl Talk’ video and listen to the lyrics…

LYRICS:
You see I had this brother who was mad at me
Cuz I told my home girl that he wasn’t packin’
Told the truth so I really don’t give a damn
That I spilled the beans on his little short stem man (oh)
Some of y’all be foolin’ us
Big feet big hands just plain big
The sex ain’t worth a damn
We women wanna know these things
If y’all got the bat but not the swangPut in work
If you don’t want the girl to talk
And you don’t want your feelings hurt
Put in work
Cause if you don’t
That girl’s just gon’ go spreadin’ the wordGirls talkin’ got ya all caught out there
Why you thinkin’ that it’s all about ya
Forget she told me everything about ya
But the girls are talkin’
The girls are talkin’
Girls talk about the booty too
About the way a brother is hangin’ too
When you didn’t think that nobody knew
You see the girls are talkin’
The girls are talkin’
Smith revealed on last week’s episode that he dated Kandi & Phaedra at the same dayum time, a fact which I let slip when I spoke to Kandi a few months ago (CLICK HERE if you missed that).
Word on the curb is that it was their mutual involvement with Smith that sparked Kandi’s song ‘Girl Talk’ because after she and Parks compared notes, they actually became cool while Smith is ‘rumored’ to have felt some kinda way about being played by them both.
Kandi also hit up Big Tigger’s afternoon radio show yesterday to shed some light on the drama filled ‘Trip Down Memory Lane’ episode.
Smith has referred to his relationship with Kandi as a ‘one hit wonder’ and says he took advantage of Kandi back in the 90’s, but in her recent radio interview, Kandi reveals what most of us around Atlanta already knew… that she and Smith were actually ‘girlfriend and boyfriend’ (as he calls it) and that she even had a key to his home!

[Sidebar: I wonder when Tamar Braxton is going to speak up about her experience with Mr. Smith.]
20 years is a long time ago, but I guess now is as good a time as any to talk about since it’s all on reality television.
