A new study conducted suggests that nearly half of all Americans believe that the popular social-networking site is merely a passing fad.

The Associated Press and CNBC conducted a survey recently which found that 46% of respondents think Facebook will fade away in the near future as new and more exciting platforms are developed.
In contrast, about 43% still believe Facebook will likely be successful for the long haul.
The Associated Press/CNBC Poll was conducted May 3-7, 2012 by GfK Roper Public Affairs and Corporate Communications.
It involved landline and cell phone interviews with 1,004 adult Americans ages 18 and over?and has a?margin of error of 3.9%.
