Soulja Boy hit the tweets yesterday claiming that he wrote Willow Smith’s hit song “Whip My Hair”…
Although I originally dismissed DeAndre’s tweet as a ploy for attention, it may not be as far fetched as it seems.
According to RapRadar, SB isn’t completely off his rocker.? Although he didn?t actually pen Willow Smith?s breakout hit (that honor goes to writer/producer Jukebox),? Soulja Boy does get interpolation credit for Willow’s use of the opening line ?hopped up out the bed turn my swag on? which was taken from Soulja’s “Turn My Swag On.”
In case you’re wondering what “interpolation credit” is…. it refers to receiving credit from the use of a melody or phrase, or portions of a melody or phrase (often with modified lyrics) from a previously recorded song.
Pretty soon Soulja’s gonna copyright the word “swag” and charge for it’s use. You betta make that money honey…
