Watching the episode of Girlfriends where Joan Clayton breaks down because her fiance’ has been sent to war made me feel a little guilty. I thought I didn’t know any fighting men or women, couldn’t relate to what it must be like to wait and hope that your loved one returns intact.
Not too long ago, a very good friend I’d lost track of for a decade found his way back to me – from Kuwait. He’s a fellow ATLien who is far far away from home. Below is an edited transcript of his Old School Atlanta Memories (O.S.A.M.) interview:
O.S.A.M. ~ “A” Mail ~ Dino’s Coming of Age Story
This ya boy, Dino reppin Campbellton and Fairburn. I?m now in the Air Force in North Dakota. Now onto my O.S.A.M.:
I remember when Freaknik was on full blast and we went to Piedmont Park. Dungeon Family and Southern Style DJs would serenade Peachtree Road. One night, me and my sisters and their cheerleader friends went to Freaknik (they were seniors in high school). I remember when people would start dancing on top of their cars and shit. It use to be girls wearing the littlest clothes and I remember rubbing one girl?s ass for a minute and she told my sister, Kortney, to look at me and my sister beat her ass. That was the day I knew I liked an accentuated pelvis region on a woman! It was the best of times especially because I keep up wit them and we do less things together, NOW THAT I AM 22! That?s why I can remember that episode.

O.S.A.M. ~ “WAKE UP” ~ School Daze
School Daze brings back mad memories! Spike Lee once explained that Dap’s point of waking up the entire college was “to encourage the student body to wake up and take notice to what was going on around them. Things were getting out of control and it needed to stop. The calm and conclusive “WAKE UP” to the audience meant “wake up from all the bullsh*t we bring on ourselves and that we perpetuate in our community and neighborhoods and in, most of all, society.”
Please….Wake Up!

Rihanna’s Battered Pics Surface + Still No Chris Brown Mugshot
The gory photo showing Rihanna‘s bruised and battered face has surfaced online and LAPD has launched a full investigation as to how the photos were leaked. The department issued a statement last night that said the photograph ‘has the appearance of one taken during an official domestic violence investigation’ but will not confirm the photos are authentic due to their duty to protect the confidentiality of the victim. (LAPD Statement) The pics have spread like wildfire but my only question is how was Rihanna’s pic leaked but there is still no sign of Chris Brown’s mugshot?

Flix ~ Tameka Raymond Headed Home + Usher Didn’t Know?

Tameka Foster Raymond was spotted at Brazil’s Airport of Guarulhos yesterday headed home after recovering in a Brazilian hospital after her liposuction plans were spoiled. Mrs. Raymond spent 11 days recovering from cardiac arrest suffered immediately prior to undergoing the plastic surgery procedure. Her hubby, Usher left a few days earlier amidst speculation that he’s pissed off at Tameka’s decision to have the surgery in the first place.
Reports have surfaced which claim Usher had no knowledge of his wife’s travel plans to Brazil and that he definitely didn’t approve of her having plastic surgery. It’s also being reported that Tameka lied to Brazilian doctors about the time frame of the birth of her last child claiming she’d given birth 4 months ago when in fact her son is only two months old.
I said it on Twitter yesterday and I ain’t ashamed to say it here too… I would be p*ssed “A”zz hell if I went in to have lipo, almost died and woke up to the same fat on my tummy! No joke. Life is precious and her decisions may have been flawed, but Tameka faces the daily scrutiny from a hateful public. I’m not saying her actions were OK….but I understand.? I’m just glad she came out of this OK.
