b.) Sparkle marks the acting debut of American Idol Jordin Sparks.
Houston and Sparks star in the film alongside Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Cee Lo Green, Carmen Ejogo, Tika Sumpter, Tamela Mann and Omari Hardwick.

Houston passed away February 11, 2012, and her mother wrote a beautiful message to the fallen singer that was printed in Whitney’s funeral program.
