Antwan “Big Boi” Patton held his annual Halloween party at Stankonia Studios last weekend with an open bar and plenty of soul food for the crew. Proceeds from the event went to benefit the Big Kidz Foundation, which is Twan’s non-profit organization established to nurture the intellect of youth by providing them with culturally diverse experiences. Talk about partying with a purpose! This shindig went on til the wee hours of the morning in the Courvoisier Lounge and spread throughout the entire studio.

Can you guess who this is? I’ll tell you below…
You may also recognize Big Boi’s “costume.” He states that he was “Dick Fury” (a spin off of DF/Dungeon Family) but my first impression was George Jefferson. He explains the inspriation behind his plaid suit and huge fro and you may (or may not) be surprised to hear the explanation. Video plus more party pics below: (more…)
I now pronounce this FLASHBACK Friday. Way before Cee-Lo came to his senses and decided to reunite with the group (Goodie Mob Reunion Concert Footage), there was a short documentary developed around the Goodie Mob which carried the name of their “One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show” project. The entire Dungeon Family, including Outkast, participated in the video and I give the directors much props for putting all this great footage together. If you’re a true southern hip-hop head, this is one video that’ll make your day. Happy Friday!
Video ~ Goodie Mob Documentary (Part 1)
Synopsis:Goodie Mob, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is widely considered one of the founding hip hop acts of the Dirty South movement. Members Cee-Lo (Thomas Callaway), Khujo Goodie (Willie Knighton, Jr.), T-Mo Goodie (Robert Barnett), and Big Gipp (Cameron Gipp) make up the group, which has been functioning since 1995.
“GOODIE MOB”, as it’s written on their album covers, stands for “GOOD DIE Mostly Over Bullshit”. Cee-Lo notes in a song off the Soul Food album that, “[If] you take out one ‘O’ it stands for ‘GOD Is Every Man Of Blackness.’ ”
Its members were all born in Atlanta, and the group is based there with the rest of the Dungeon Family, a collective which includes OutKast and P.A. (Parental Advisory). Goodie was first heard featured on several songs from OutKast’s first album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.
Cee-Lo was the most visible member of the group prior to his departure in 2000 (among other projects, he is now recording as Gnarls Barkley), while Big Gipp has made several rounds on other Dungeon Family members’ albums and a solo album Mutant Mindframe, and T-Mo and Khujo form a duo within the group called The Lumberjacks.
Check out the newest leak from my future ex-husband/baby daddy Big Boi called “Shine Blockas” which features Gucci Mane. Now because I’m biased I’m not gonna say much EXCEPT that this song is one of my favorites from Big’s unreleased CD. I’ve heard Sir Lucious Leftfoot: Son of Chico Dusty in it’s entirety twice and I’m still anxiously awaiting it’s release. Yep…hear it and download it right here first cause I always have to represent for the home team. Naah meen?
Shine Blockas ~ Big Boi ft. Gucci Mane
And speaking of representing… I read a tweet earlier that said in essence ‘if Jay-Z released a song New York radio is all over it’, so how come Atlanta radio hasn’t represented for their own? I’m not privy to all that radio talk, but I’ve heard that the first song I leaked, For Your Sorrows has gotten “ZERO spins” on Atlanta radio…. WassssupWitThat?

Atlanta’s celebs came out in droves last night to raise money for victims of the recent Atlanta Flood. Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, & V-103 hosted the celebrity charity bowling event entitled, Atlanta Stand-Up at Red Carpet Lanes in Duluth. I, personally witnessed the friendly competition between JD and Nelly’s team vs. Big Boi & nem. I have no idea who won but there was a ton of cash on the heads of all involved.
Nelly & Mike Bigga (aka Killer Mike)
Spotted in their best bowing attire were Lance Gross, Trey Songz, Neffe, Kandi, Rasheeda, Frankie, Big Gipp , Lil’ Brotha, Mike Bigga (formerly Killer Mike) and more! The event was not without it’s drama, being that a one Atlanta Blogger got booted for talking about JD’s height, but other than that it was a positive fun event.
Big Boi leaked “For Your Sorrows” last night on Ustream and promised to drop the full version soon. Well soon is today and I’ve got it right here for you! After listening to the entire Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty last night, I’m anxiously awaiting the day when I can bump it over and over again. But for now, I’m happy to add this song to my “A”pod playlist.

Big Boi aka Daddy Fat Sacks aka Sir Luscious Leftfoot aka my future ex-husband aka the son of Chico Dusty invited me for a special listening session last night at Stankonia Studios. As I was treated to a musical tour of Twan’s unrealeased cd by candlelight and kush, I felt a familiar affinity to the music. This ain’t just no regular CD y’all! I’ve already got a few favorites. I was sworn to secrecy but there’s quite a few surprises in store and I’m almost positive that Sir Luscious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty will be an instant classic.
Big Boi cleared up a few rumors last night as well, the first being that he’s signed to Def Jam. He’s not. He says that his album company came back to him with an offer he couldn’t refuse so he’s still Jive and he ain’t going nowhere.
It’s taken some time to complete this album cause classics aren’t created overnight, but from the tracks I heard, it’s well worth the wait. I talked Big Boi into going live last night and we acted a fool on UStream for a while. I dunno if it was the Kush or my company, but Big Boi eventually decided to premiere an ENTIRE song for his fans, LIVE…on air last night! The song, “For Your Sorrows” features George Clinton and Too Short and he got quite a bit of positive feedback. So much so, that he promised to send over the full HQ version in a few days.
So check out our ustream footage from last night below to listen to the world premiere of Big Boi’s “For Your Sorrows” : (more…)
