Academy Award-winning actress Mo’Nique hasn’t been seen or heard from since she was ‘allegedly’ blackballed from Hollywood but her interview with The Hollywood Reporter last week certainly got her name in the news.
Since Mo’Nique’s candid interview, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph has decided to put in her 2 cents on the matter, offering her opinion during an appearance on “Access Hollywood Live.”
“… there’s a whole lot of actors who are mean and terrible, but they work all the time,” Ralph said.
“It goes back to who likes you, who wants to be in your kind of crazy company. Who wants to give you money in hopes they’ll get something back on the return on your madness.
And sometimes you just need to shut up, sit there and look pretty.”
Ralph, who worked alongside the Mo’Nique on the ‘90s television sitcom Moesha, is convinced that a comeback is still possible but feels that Mo’Nique has some work to do before that happens… like lose more weight.

“Now, when she comes back she better be as tiny as you,” Ralph said, gesturing at slender co-host Kit Hoover.
“She don’t need to be Mo’Nique anymore, because obviously what she was did not work. So she better come back brand new. That’s what they’re waiting for.
Ralph goes on to say:
And if a big-time producer says to you, ‘You have been blackballed,’ what he is really doing is looking at you and saying, ‘You ain’t never working with me again.'”
[Sidebar: I think that last part was Sheryl’s take on Mo’Nique’s relationship with producer Lee Daniels.]
Mo’Nique has yet to respond to Ralph’s comments but I think her comeback is more contingent upon a dramatic change in attitude moreso than appearance.
