Remembering Arnell Starr – Atlanta Music Legend Laid To Rest… [PHOTOS + VIDEO]

Arnell Starr, an Atlanta music industry icon was quietly laid to rest over the weekend.

Funeral services were held on Saturday (March 1, 2013) for Starr, who is known around Atlanta has the host of “American Music Makers” and “Planet Rocks,” two popular 90′s television shows that featured music, videos and interviews of up and coming artists.

Arnell Star’s “American Music Makers” highlighted up and coming Atlanta talent on WUPA-TV UPN 69 back in the mid- ’90s.

The show, originally called “American Rap Makers,” is said to have started as a radio show.

Local rap artists like Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz, Jermaine Dupri, Outkast, Goodie Mobb, Kilo Ali, up & coming singers like Monica, Brandy & Destiny’s Child, and music producer Hype Williams all hit the show to showcase their talents and latest videos.

  American Music Makers used to be my sh it. I remember it came on UPN I think, and I would stay up til about 1:00 am just to watch it. He will be missed.
