I cant believe people are mad at Mary J. Blige for this commerical becasue of coonery?!! Now I can see them saying it was wack, but to say she sold out for doing this is stupid, what Mary did was called branding. If Brittany Spears or Christina song this, this wouldn’t be an issue, but because she’s black it is, come on now its not like she was holding a piece of watermelon in her hand. Its not like it was a CHURCH’S chicken commercial she’s singing about a snack wrap. An easy 2million check cashed for 60 seconds, gone head Mary, with your pickles onions, fresh lettuce, 2 cheeses, french dressing its catchy and she used the beat to her song Don’t Mindon her new album so I support it! I think Mary and BK did their job, making some memorable you won’t forget tell me this hook ain’t in your head.

I don’t acknowledge such stereotypes, everybody loves chicken. Mz. Mary….She got some bad advice, she is too far in her career for this kind of mess…I’ll just say this file this next to MC Hammer’s commercial for chicken bites. At least Kirk Franklin & fam tap danced for whole pieces of chicken.

I don’t get what the big deal is? The guy asks what’s in the wrap, the manager gets ready to tell him, then Mary interrupts. Like she’s been standing there singing the menu all day and interrupting the manager all day long. It’s not a bad commerical, just could have been shot differently so that more people would get it.

I just think it was poor judgement in her PR with allow her to sing about chicken. She is above singing about chicken. Why not sing a song about Carol’s Daughter products????!!! The commercial is corny and in poor taste, no racial undertones.

The problem is we (black people) have the crab in a barrel syndrome. If they had gotten Taylor Swift, Christina or Brittney to do it we would be asking "why didn’t they include a black celebrity in their marketing". BK went out and got one of the most sucessful R&B artist ever to do a commercial and we have a problem with it?

I don’t think it was meant to be serious. I think she made it with the intent of making us laught. But we are way too extra for that. At the end of the day she got 2 million for it! In the words of Biggie "F*ck N*ggaz Get Money"

Did I miss something? Where was the racial overtone? Aren’t there other artists/actors doing commercials about the same chicken wrap? I’m black and I don’t see what the problem is. WE need to stop trying to pull the race card on EVERYTHING.
