Oh Lawd! Killer Mike has done a “Diddy” on us. He’s?gone and changed his dayum name! Crazy thing is… he didn’t even call to tell me. I had to read it on the gotdayum net. Needless to say, I’m a bit perturbed, but I ain’t trippin. Mike, who now wants to be known as “MIKE BIGGA” says that it’s something he’s wanted to do for quite some time now and after reading his statement, I can understand and stand by his decision.? Mike says:
Troy Dale West, Jr. (above) was arrested last week after alledgedly attacking a 35 year old Black woman in front of her 7 year old child at the entrance to a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Morrow, Georgia. According to Police reports, Tashawnea Hill told him to be careful when he almost ran into her child and that?s when West snapped and started punching and kicking the 35-year-old Army reservist while shouting racial and sexist slurs.
West admitted striking Hill but claimed that she spit on him and accused him of hitting her child with the door but none of the witnesses corroborated his story. In fact, witnesses and surveillance video confirmed Hill?s story, and now the FBI has “initiated an investigation in the matter to determine if a civil rights violation occurred,” the agency said in a statement.
Also, because the alleged incident happened in full view of Hill’s 7-year-old daughter, the Clayton County district attorney’s office added a felony charge of cruelty to children. “[The woman’s daughter] was visibly upset the night of the attack,” according to Capt. James Callaway of the Morrow Police Department, who said he was on the scene shortly after the alleged attack. A police report of the incident said Hill’s daughter was “crying uncontrollably and her body [was] shaking/trembling” from witnessing the attack.
“The man slung open the door pretty hard and fast and I had to push my daughter out of the way,” said Hill. “I turned to the man and I just said, ‘Excuse me sir, you need to watch yourself; you almost hit my daughter in the face.’ And from there it just went downhill.”
The Cracker Barrel’s manager told police he stepped between West and Hill to stop the alleged assault.
Cracker Barrel spokeswoman Julie Davis said Wednesday that the restaurant was cooperating fully in the police investigation.
According to Hill’s report, and confirmed by many witnesses, West yelled: ‘You’re an fucking black nigger bitch,’ and then began to punch and hit her. West is now out on bail after posting a $12,150 bond.

Maia Campbell, former “In the House” actress and daughter of deceased author BeBe Moore-Campbell, became famous once again after this video surfaced of the former actress acting erratically. Maia was called everything from a crackhead to a prostitute once the video hit the net, however it was soon revealed that her behavior was due to a psychological disorder. Most asked the question: Where’s her family? Why aren’t they helping? Now, after a facing a ton of criticism, Maia’s father and grandmother have come forward and released a statement to Essence Magazine addressing the events that placed Maia in such a horrible situation:
Our hearts have been deeply touched by the outpouring of love that so many of you have freely displayed in the past several days about our beloved Maia C. Campbell. Our spirits have been lifted by your words of support and your acts of kindness and we have been encouraged to continue our efforts to assist our daughter and granddaughter to become whole again.
As a family, we have been struggling with Maia in her illness for quite some time. We continue to hold fast to our faith and hope that some day she will realize that healing will begin when she decides to reach out and accept the help and treatment that have been offered to her. We all have challenges in life that we must face, but when compound problems such as mental illness and substance abuse are prevalent, it can appear that there is no way out. However, our sustaining faith and trust in God compels us to believe differently. We strongly believe that Maia will be healed.

Most assumed that Maia was a lost cause, while others prayed for her recovery. Well it’s obvious that prayer works wonders! Last night I received a wonderful email from a friend of her late mother, Bebe Moore Campbell. Nancy Carter, executive director of NAMI Urban Los Angeles (NAMI Urban Los Angeles (NULA) is the urban affiliate of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness), thanking BlackWeb20.com for the coverage and the compassion shown towards Maia. Nancy alerted me to my error and explained that Maia has been diagnosed with bi-polar/manic depression. And because substance abuse is involved she has co-occurring disorder, which has symptoms similar to schizophrenia.
In short, Maia is mentally ill and has a substance abuse problem.
Nancy returned my phone call to her and shared some important and good news: Maia is in treatment. And she said that there is hope for Maia?s recovery but the prayers of ?50,000,000? people can make the difference, because Maia doesn?t like to stay in treatment, and her treatment involves drug withdrawal as well as treatment for her disorders.
