After a two-year hiatus, Yung Joc has finally released his third studio album but not without much anticipation and much drama. You see…Grind Flu, which was previously titled Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood under Bad Boy Records has been released under Joc’s own record label Swagg Team Entertainment and he’s giving it away for a mere $FREE.99.? (That’s zero dollars and zero cents for all you slow pokes!)
Originally slated to be released on Bad Boy Records, the project was halted after Joc made the decision to sue Diddy’s record label as well as Block Entertainment for allegedly failing to fulfill contractual obligations such as paying royalties. Joc told Billboard.com back in May that he would bypass all that unnecessary Diddy drama “use some independent record promoters to promote my record.”? Well, he definitely kept his end of the deal. He explained last night during a private listening session that his good buddy Gorilla Zoe encouraged him to put his foot forward and release it for free. The support from his labelmate gave him the added push he needed to make this bold statement.
Joc’s decision to release Grind Flu through Jive’s Swagg Team Entertainment imprint, places his project alongside groups Hot Styles (of “Lookin’ Boy” fame) and the GS Boyz (who recently smashed digital sales with their hit “Stanky Legg”) as an official artist of the label.
I heard most of the CD during the listening session last night and I’ve got to say…it was hawt! I think I’ve found my new personal mantra in “Check!”? The CD features Shawty Lo, Bobby Valentino, Chris Brown, Pleasure P, and others. The full Grind Flu album is available for FREE right here…right now!
