Keri Hilson attended the 2009 BET Awards Nominee announcements yesterday in New York rocking her new shorther cut. The hometown singer was nominated for 4 awards ~ Best Female R&B Artist, Best New Artist, Viewer’s Choice & Best Collaboration for “Turnin Me On” with Lil Wayne.? Keri faces some stiff competition in each category, most notably in the Best Female R&B section where she’s up against Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Keyshia Cole & Jazmine Sullivan.
T.I. and Beyonce top the list of nominees for this year’s BET Awards with both snagging 5 nominations each. Although Tip won’t be attending the show due to his obligations to begin a 366-day prison sentence next week on weapons charges.
T.I. copped Video of the Year Nomination for “Live Your Life” with Rihanna and a Best Collaboration nomination for both “Live Your Life” and “Ain’t I” with Yung Dro and Young LA. He was also nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Viewers’ Choice.
Keri Hilson, Lil Wayne and T-Pain received four nods each. Hilson earned the most nominations for a new artist. In the Best New Artist, she’ll be up against Sullivan, M.I.A., Ryan Leslie and Kid Cudi.
The show will be hosted by Jamie Foxx, who is also up for several awards, including Best Male R&B, where he’ll face The-Dream, Leslie, Ne-Yo and T-Pain; Best Collaboration for his hit “Blame It” with ‘Pain, where he’s up against Hilson, Jim Jones, T.I. and Yung LA; and Video of the Year, which also features competition from Kanye West (“Heartless”).
