I occaisionally check up on my favorite peeps and wondered about Griffy2Trillion the former leader of Hot 107.9’s A-Team. I got a pleasant surprise in my inbox yesterday confirming that Arlen “Griff” Griffin is still on the grind but he’s far far away from the “A.”? Griff, the ruff voiced comic who woke up most of Atlanta’s working hip-hop heads is now chillin on a morning show in NEW ZEALAND! I know times is hard…but dayum! You gotta go overseas for work now-a-days??? Oh…and please take notes of what the aussies put Griff through on his first day of work…. Continue Reading…
Of course the flix are still trickling in and I would be remiss if I didn’t post a few pics of the Atlanta Housewives at the 2009 Trumpet Awards. Lisa Wu-Hartwell and Ed Hartwell will forever hold the title of cutest couple. They look so good together! Sheree was doin what she does best and DeShawn was flying solo.
Sheree Whitfield
DeShawn Snow….is that WEBSTER chillin in the background??? Oh My! 😯
See all those workers in the background above? Well apparently they’re still waiting for a check! It’s been reported that super-producer Tyler Perry has accumulated at least 6 liens combined on his personal home and mega movie studio. The Atlanta-based producer is accused of amounting unpaid bills from the two projects that total slightly less than $200,000 and says the costs are “ridiculously unfair” and amount to extortion.
The contractors allege Perry refused to pay their final bills either for no apparent reason or because their work met with his arbitrary disapproval. They say he ordered work redone on impulse, deciding he wouldn?t like the stones purchased for an outdoor fountain, for instance, or deeming newly planted trees too short. ?He wanted to do it his way,? said Brooks Hilton, a landscaping contractor who said Perry owes him $17,635. ?He wouldn?t take any advice. I guess in Hollywood it works that way, but not in real life.?
Perry, though, said he withheld payment only for shoddy work or for undocumented charges and then only for a handful of the dozens of construction companies he hired. Even those, he said, still got paid hundreds of thousands of dollars each before he dismissed them. He sees the contractors? complaints as a form of extortion and as part of the burden of celebrity. ?There?s a Tyler Perry tax that?s put on things,?
Keyshia Cole and WNBA star Lisa Leslie were just two of the flawless celebs spotted at the 17th Annual Trumpet Awards in Atlanta last night. Old school legends like Tina Marie and En Vogue as well as A-town staples like Q (of 112), Bobby Valentino, Sean Garrett, Chris Tucker and Raven-Symone also graced the red carpet.
Check out the flix below:

Raven-Symone is such a beautiful girl! You betta work B*tch!
The Divas of EnVogue are still doin their thang!
Surprised? Me too.
I never thought they’d be able to mend fences but times is hard and money is tight!
The world of sports and hip-hop collided Saturday evening as T.I.’s Grand Hustle celebrated their collaboration with Amar’e Stoudemire’s Hypocalypto entertainment. Stoudemire announced their joint venture to promote his new atrist, Juice and the event, hosted at Justin’s Restaurant drew a mix of ball players and music industry celebs.? Killer Mike, Big Kuntry King, Lisa Leslie (WNBA), Ovie Mughelli (Falcons), D. Woods, Drumma Boy, Sheree Whitfield, Deon Grant (Seahawks), and more were spotted chillin in the crowded back room.
Atlantic Records held a private listening party for T.I.’s hot artist, B.o.B., Friday evening. B.o.B., short for Bobby Ray is a Decatur bred musical phenomenon who’s been featured on several Grand Hustle songs. He’s got a hot song in rotation (I’ll be in the Sky), which is almost unheard of for a new artist without an album…AND he’s got a grand endorsement from The King himself:
I know that a lot of times it take an artist this talented, this diversified a little longer to break on an underbelly level cause it’s very very hard to get him to come back down to earth with us sometimes but I’m letting you know that nothing could be more worth your time than this artist right here…right now. This is the future of what I consider respectable in hip hop. It ain’t nothing this dude can’t do. If he don’t rap, it ain’t cause he can’t it’s cause he don’t feel like it. If he ain’t on no hood sh*t, it cause that ain’t how he feel.
So, rather than force him to do something he don’t wanna do, I’d just rather sit back and admire all the things he does do. He does the sh*t well, so it brings me great honor and enormous pleasure to introduce B.o.B. to the rest of the world and I hope y’all stand behind him as much as I do. And with that said I must bid you farewell. Keep it pimpin…
I can honestly say, B.o.B. is the truth and I CAN”T WAIT for his cd to drop. In case you still need some convincing, download the “Who the F*ck is B.o.B.” Mixtape below: Continue Reading…
