T.I.’s “A Year And A Day” Mixtape
The queen of hip-hop/R&B, Mary J. Blige will be featured on tonight’s (June 14th) episode of ?TVOne’s One on One with Cathy Hughes. ?The songstress touched on several topics ranging from to her battles with drugs and alcohol to?her relationship with her hubby Kendu Issacs. In a revealing clip, Mary discusses how she’s still struggling with accepting a drama-free relationship and how her faith is guiding her path:

At the beginning it was even hard, and even now it’s still hard because I never had anyone to be this firm and not “yes ma’am’ me to death…. And I never had anyone that I could believe cared for me that much so it’s difficult for me to see that he really has my best interest at heart sometimes. Because I’m living in the past of people not having my best interest at heart and so it’s like?’this is really to good to be true’?but then again..thats where God comes in and I’m like ‘Lord, what do I do?’ and he said?’Trust in me and don’t lean on your own understanding.’
So I’m trying to walk in that ….and I’m learning so much. I’ve come a long way…but I still have so much work to do.

Monica (pictured above with BET CEO Debra Lee), Comedianne Monique and Actor Terry Crews (“Everybody Hates Chris”) will all be featured in BET’s upcoming lineup next season. Mo and Crews will have reality shows built around their lives, while Monique will host her own late night comedy show.
The slate of shows represents the first programming under new co-presidents Loretha Jones and Stephen Hill, who took over the position following the exit of Reginald Hudlin last year. During a sneak preview Jones and Hill said the new programming will represent a branding strategy of family values and community pride ? an attempt at moving away from some of the negative African American programs the network has received criticism for in the past.
“Monica: Standing Up” will focus on the Monica’s family life and her comeback album, “Breakin’ Up With Mo’Nique” will mark the network’s first late-night talk show and “Crews Control” will focus on the actor, his wife and five kids.
If you’re an avid reader of this site, you recieved this information months ago when I sat down with Monica one on one.? That’s my girl and I’m soooo happy for her! Congrats again Mo….I’ll definitely be watching!

Antwan “Big Boi’ Patton and Mary J. Blige sit beside Reynoldstown neighborhood resident Paris Rhoden, 44, who used the services of Resources for Resources and Communities to find a place to live. Blige and Big Boi were part of a foreclosure seminar in Atlanta on Saturday, April 18, 2009 as part of the “Bringing Hope Home” tour to prevent foreclosure.
“Anything they need from me, I?m here,? said Big Boi, fellow ATLien and half of the duo OutKast. ?I?d see all these boarded up houses and think ?What?s going on?
The tour of hard-hit cities, including Newark, Miami and Cleveland, made Atlanta its second stop. During stops in Reynoldstown, Kirkwood and downtown, celebs and counselors warned about for-profit counseling scams and urged people to call free resource centers. The number of calls from Georgians to the Hope hotline more than doubled in 2008.
?It?s free help, it?s confidential,? said Suzanne Boas, president of the Atlanta non-profit Consumer Credit Counseling Service, a service that handles hotline calls and local counseling. ?You really don?t need to feel embarrassed ? you do need to reach out.? (More)
The bright blue and yellow Bringing Hope Home tour bus rolled through Atlanta over the weekend plastered with number of the hotline for the foreclosure prevention group Hope Now Alliance, based in Washington, D.C. Monica did a tribute to Mary J. Blige during the 2009 BET Honors and completely ripped Mary’s ‘Not Gone Cry’! She had the entire audience in tears as she thanked Mary for being her inspiration.? In case you missed it, check out the performance below:
