About a month ago, legendary soul singer Gladys Knight filed a lawsuit seeking to remove her name from the Chicken & Waffles restaurant franchise after it was hit with a slew of bad press from reported tax issues and financial mismanagement (click HERE if you missed that).
Well now, Shanga Hankerson, Knight’s son, has filed a counter suit in the case and is apparently refusing to remove his famous mom’s name from his Atlanta restaurants.

NEWSFLASH! ?Gladys Knight wants her name back!! The legendary songstress has apparently suffered enough with her association with her son’s restaurant.
Earlier this year Atlanta’s Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles dramatically failed a health inspection (click HERE if you missed that) and a few months after that, the popular eatery was raided and shut down by the Georgia Department of Revenue.

Knight’s son Shanga Hankerson, was arrested and is facing charges for tax evasion and money laundering.
Gladys wants nothing to do with the controversy and is now seeking to remove her name and image from the restaurant, as well as all of her memorabilia.

Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles is just barely recovering from it’s last media pounding after it’s downtown location failed health inspections ealier this year (click here if you missed that).
Now, all 3 ‘Chicken and Waffles’ locations were shut down and raided by the feds after Georgia’s Department of Revenue accused Knight’s son, Shanga Hankerson, of theft and tax evasion.
Welp… there’s at least one less restaurant I’ve got on my list in Atlanta and Gladys Knight?s Signature Chicken and Waffles on Peachtree Street is one of em!
The well-known soul food restaurant attracts a lot of tourists because of it’s popular name and location and customers have been known to wait for hours to get a table at the busy eatery.
The wait will probably be a whole lot shorter when news gets out that they failed their health inspection earlier this month.
Sadly, the popular dining spot, which bears the name iconic singing legend Gladys Knight, accumulated at least 15 violations during the inspection and only got a score of 56!
