ATLien, I showed my boyfriend your post about T.I. saving the guy from committing suicide yesterday and he swore me up and down that the whole thing is a publicity stunt. He says that in the movie “Talk to Me,” Don Cheadle played Petey Green a Radio One talk show host who was a ex-con.

Petey Green had a radio show in prison and convinced another convict to go to the top of the prison and pretend to want to jump. The “suicidal” convict told the warden that he would only talk to Petey Green. So Petey Green made a deal with the warden that he could talk him down. I’m rambling but in the movie Petey Green said that it took him months to talk the guy into doing it for him.? The whole plot was that that Petey Green wanted to decrease his prison time and the good deed worked. The Warden cut his time and he got out.

When he told me that movie it struck me that maybe it wasn’t a coincidence that T.I. was in the area after all. I’m just sayin. It’s something to think about.

Tyler Perry is “Tired” of Madea? Cancels Tour Dates!

Tyler Perry says he’s exhausted and can’t do no more! In a recent letter to his fans, Tyler apologizes but says he’s gonna have to cancel the extended leg of his “Madea” tour:

You have no idea how hard this is for me to do but I wanted you to hear it from me first. After 125 performances in 126 days last spring, and doing two movies back-to-back this summer, then coming right back on tour and doing another 30 performances in as many days it’s all become too much. I?m truly so exhausted.

So, with that said, unfortunately starting next week, October 19th, I am going to have to cancel some dates of the “encore leg” of the MADEA’s BIG HAPPY FAMILY tour. I know a lot of you worked really hard to buy those tickets and I want to assure you that you will be refunded for the ticket price at your point of purchase.

I feel terrible about this and hope you can understand but right now I?m not capable of giving you the show you want and deserve. I hope one day soon I will be able to make it up to you.

I want to thank the nearly 750,000 fans who bought tickets and have crowded these arenas and theaters across the country this year, and made this one of the most special tours I’ve ever had. With me dealing with so much personal grief after the loss of my mother, it could not have come at a better time. You all helped me through it and feeling the love and support of the people who started it all was just what I needed. I felt it and I still do. Thank you.

I am so sorry, but I am starting to realize that I am human and I have to know when to slow down. Again, I am so sorry. I feel like I’ve let you down.

Critics may be applauding TP’s decision to shed his fat suit, but 750,000 tickets sold ain’t nothing to sneeze at. Rest assured that the fans love Madea and she’ll be back after getting a bit of R&R.? Next up… Madea’s Family Vacation. LOL!

T.I. Stops Atlanta Suicide Attempt! Talks Man Down From Roof…

Rapper T.I. was instrumental in talking a suicidal man off the ledge of a 22-story building in Atlanta today.

If you were anywhere near Peachtree Street around 4pm, you may have noticed that traffic was at a stand still. That’s because there was a 22 year old man on the roof of a Colony Square building threatening to jump.

The man was visible from the street and witnesses in nearby buildings reported seeing him sitting on the edge of the roof of the building.

Peachtree Street was temporarily blocked off between 14th and 15th streets, and MARTA buses were being re-routed.

V-103’s Ryan Cameron went live on air reporting every move of the distressed gentleman. Ryan should definitely be commended on his coverage of the situation. But one thing in particular rubbed me the wrong way. V-103’s choice to play Donnie McClurkin’s “We Fall Down”…

As all of Atlanta listened intently and prayed for a positive outcome, T.I. heard about the situation on air and called Ryan to find out what he could do to help. Tip decided to roll over to the building, where the rapper met with police and recorded a heartfelt video message which cops then played for the man on the roof.

After the young man saw T.I.’s video he agreed to step off the ledge … and met T.I. in the lobby, where the two were able to talk things out. Cops later informed the radio station that they will not be pressing charges against the man, who has yet to be identified. Hopefully he’ll be able to get the help he needs.

T.I. aka Clifford Harris, is facing his own troubles with the law. He has a court hearing scheduled Friday (Oct. 15th) following his arrest last month for drug possession.

Morehouse President Addresses “Mean Girls” Article + “True” Morehouse Men Respond With Video…

The Mean Girls of Morehouse article is creating quite a buzz online and off. Morehouse alumni are all up in arms and most feel that the article puts an unfair spotlight on the historically black college.

In a letter written to college alumni, Morehouse president Professor Robert Franklin, addressed the article prior to it’s distribution…. and he wasn’t happy.? After all, the article focused unfairly on a very small part of the traditionally all male college AND referenced them as “Girls”!

The piece has sparked a ton of controversy. Franklin says that he strongly disagrees with the article and although he would not interfere with freedom of the press, he wants the community to know that the article is not a full representation of the college.

ASCAP Honors Kelly Rowland & Outstanding Women Behind the Music…

Last night (Oct. 12th), ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) who reps everyone from Beyonce to Jay-Z & Ludacris kicked off their 2nd annual ASCAP Presents? Women Behind the Music in Atlanta.

Grammy Award winning multi-platinum singer Kelly Rowland of super-group Destiny?s Child was honored along with Entertainment attorney Sandra Brown(Jermaine Durpi/Akon) and Hanna King(GM of Grand Hustle/T.I).

DJ Traci Steele & Rashan Ali

Hosted by V103’s Rashan Ali (luv the shoes!) and with music by DJ Traci Steele, the annual event series is designed to promote, and recognize the impact women have made in the entertainment industry, and specifically music. The honorees all participated on a discussion panel where they shared secrets to being a successful in a male dominated industry. I learned a lot just by being in the room!
