Meet Kimberly Dodd, 27 of Canton, Georgia. Dodd has the earned the esteemed title of “idiot” after being arrested for shooting herself accidentally. The accident is not the act that sparked the arrest, it was Dodd’s active imagination that caused her trip to the clink after she lied to authorities stating an unknown assailant shot her in the leg.

OK…here’s the tale: On Nov. 1st Dodd reported that her car broke down on I-575 northbound near Towne Lake Parkway. While parked on the side of the road, Dodd claimed an unknown white male approached her vehicle, grabbed a gun she had on her passenger seat and shot her in the leg before fleeing the area. Dodd also claimed she fired one round at the man as he ran from her car. Dodd was transported to Kennestone Hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg. A portion of I-575 was shut down for two hours during the investigation. Sigh..

The real story is that Dodd accidentally shot herself in the leg, then made up the story about being attacked. She also fired another round out the window of her vehicle to make her tall tale seem more believable, which could have put others in the vicinity in danger.

Dodd’s story didn’t add up and she was was arrested and charged Monday with discharging a firearm near a public highway and giving false statements. She was released on an $11,880 bond.

Idiot. Case closed…
