Clifford “T.I.” Harris has some serious fans! Tip, who was recently spotted chillaxin courtside at the Hawks game, got a surprise endorsement from an anonymous source.

The secret admirer(s) feel that Tip’s recent federal sentencing is a waste of taxpayer’s money and is asking the judge to reconsider T.I.s 11 month jail sentence.

The group calls themselves “Citizens of the State of Atlanta Georgia” (as if Atlanta was a state!) and have filed a motion to set-aside order/judgment in US District Court.

In a nutshell, they want the judge to throw out Tip’s jail sentence and send him to rehab instead. They explain their position in a 4 page motion filled with legal mumbo jumbo and misspelled words:

“At most, Mr. Harris may have a drug addiction and sending a person to prison for having an addiction is not what society condones. Instead, a person who has an alcohol or drug addiction needs ‘rehabilitation’ and incarcerating that person for having an alcohol or drug addiction does not in any way ‘rehabilitate’ that person; and if it did, the government could seek the incareeration of every citizen in the country who consume alcoholic beverages or even over the counter drugs for that matter.

The bottom-line is that neither the Probation Oftieer nor the Assistant U.S. Attorney could ever hope to offer evidence to suggest that placing a Defendant in prison for an addiction serves to ‘rehabilitate’ that Defendant.”

According to TMZ, neither T.I.’s people nor the prosecution have any idea who or what the group is … besides being an organization of some kind that failed geography class. *giggle*

Tip’s lawyer, Steve Sadow, says that despite the well-intentioned gesture, there are no plans to appeal the judge’s sentence.

Ummmm…. will the “Citizens of the State of Atlanta, Georgia” please hit me up? I’ve got a few questions for you…
