While most families are still barbequing for Labor Day, one Atlanta-area community is reeling after an attempted murder.
Two brothers are in custody after they almost beat their parents to death Saturday morning and authorities say they also plotted to set the family home on fire.
Christopher Ervin (22) and his brother Cameron Ervin are in custody after authorities their mom, Yvonne Ervin called 911. Police arrived and the brothers were still on the scene, however their mom & dad were both ‘severely injured and bleeding.’

Yvonne Ervin dialed 911 from the family home in Snellville just before 8 a.m. to alert police that ?her sons were trying to kill her and her husband,? Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Rich Long told WSB-TV.
?She told the 911 operator that the husband was distracting the sons and she was able to call,? Long said. ?That is probably the life-saving move from this event.?
Police arrived at the Forbes Trail home in Snellville (a suburb located about 25 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta) and caught Cameron Ervin, 17, and Christopher Ervin, 22, red handed at the scene.

According to authorities, Zachary Ervin, the father, was ?severely injured and bleeding heavily,? and his wife was ?seriously injured.? Both were taken to a nearby hospital.
Officers at the scene also picked up a ?strong odor of natural gas? at the home and investigators discovered that someone had tampered with the home?s gas line.
According to WSB-TV, they suspect the brothers were plotting to burn up the family home.
The two brothers were arrested and now face two felony counts of aggravated assault and two counts of arson in the first degree. According to county inmate records, they are not eligible for bond.
The AJC reports that the brothers have been cooperating with the investigation, but police still haven?t released a possible motive.
Clint Miller, a neighbor of the family was asked about the situation and says that he’s shocked:
You would never expect anything like that from them. They’re just an everyday normal family in the community.
This is all so sad and it just goes to prove that you never know what’s going on with ‘picture perfect’ families.
