Nene Leakes of The Real Housewives of Atlanta made an appearance on the Dr. Oz show earlier this week (November 18, 2014).

Dr. Mehmet Oz spoke to the reality star about her pulmonary embolism (Blood Clots) and Leakes reconfirmed that she sat out the recent RHOA girl’s trip to the Philippines due to her medical issue.

As previously posted, Leakes didn’t accompany her co-stars to the Philippines for fear that the 19-hour flight could have caused another blood clot. Dr. Oz said pulmonary embolisms (or blockages of an artery in the lung) can be deadly, and told NeNe she was smart to bypass the trip and that she was lucky to be alive.

Nene also discussed the importance of eliminating toxic relationships from our lives, stating that toxic friends or family members can make you physically and emotionally ill.

As you know, NeNe had a huge falling-out with her BFF Cynthia Bailey last season and she managed to throw her former friendship into the toxic relationship category.

Leakes is apparently doing much better after being hospitalized for blood clots in her lungs back in November 2013 (CLICK HERE if you missed that).

NeNe travels a lot and sits for long periods of time during her flights. Leakes’ doctor said her extensive airplane travel contributed to her blood clot.

During her appearance on Dr. Oz, NeNe revealed that she now takes daily medication for her blood clots but never found out exactly what had caused them in her situation.

As far as friendships are concerned, sometimes friendships just come to the end of the road… when you have to say ‘goodbye’ and that’s ok.

I think that’s ok if your friendship ends. If it has to end it has to end. If it’s toxic. If it’s not meaning you any good.
