Rapper/actor?and my personal super hero?Michael ?Killer Mike? Render on police safety and the aftermath of the events in Ferguson, Missouri.
For those of you who don’t know, ‘Killer Mike’ gets his name because he kills the microphone so no… he’s not a killer. That being said, Mike hit up Fox News’ ‘The Independents’ to eloqently give his input about the issue in Ferguson and how there were many mistakes made in it’s aftermath.
It has been easier to make me a target because I’m a Black male… stop & frisk did not affect my White friends like it affected my Black friends in New York. I’m glad they did away with that policy.
But I don’t advocate everything becoming a racial argument when we approach something. This is a constitutional argument. I believe that young man was killed before due process happened. I believe that that young man’s constitutional rights may have been violated and based on that, I am in support of further investigation of what happened.
Watch the video below of Killer Mike on ‘The Independents’ & feel free to share your input:
Killer Mike also addressed the issue of public safety and how public perception of police needs to change in the aftermath of Mike Brown’s shooting.
Mike, who notes that?his father was a police officer and he has several police officers in his family, says that in order for cops to be safe in communities, they have to be a part of the community. ?Officers should be involved in the community and not just ‘occupy’ the community.
To keep police safe, we’re going to have to have police be a part of our community again and not just occupy our community.
As an American, we have to stay vested and make sure our constitutional rights are not being violated. So I would encourage everyone to vote locally, to engage your police departments when you DON’T need them, not when you’re calling 911.
Know your local policemen, know your local police sergeant, know your police chief and be a part of an active local campaign in your community.
Mike made some great points and I’m so proud to see him speaking out on these issues.
