The couple is going through quite a bit these days and Twyla’s recent DUI doesn’t make things any easier… especially in light of Ma$e filing for divorce and choosing to restore his rap career.
[FLASHBACK: Was ?Divorce? Pastor/Rapper Ma$e?s ?Successful Marriage? Strategy?]
The Pastor/Rapper, who is still heavily involved with his congregation, first disputed the DUI reports, stating…
The story that media outlets have released concerning the Betha family and the church are not accurate.
MA$E nor the members of the church had any idea of any occurrence of an arrest or these charges taking place before today.
But now that Twyla’s mugshot has surfaced, they’ve changed their tune.
Rapper/pastor Mase believes his wife is such an embarrassment to their church, he’s banished her from the pulpit … and it all has to do with hitting the bottle.
Mase is now blocking Twyla Betha from spreading the gospel on their pulpit … all because she was busted for DUI and pled guilty last month. She blew a .14 … nearly twice the legal limit.
Mase apparently thinks drunk driving is blasphemy … so he told Twyla to get flocked. And, we’re told the church elders and parishioners think Twyla is a hypocrite because she preached that drunkenness is a sin … which she committed, so they’re down with the ban.
Mase filed for divorce in January … we’re told the drunk driving incident was the last straw for him.
Of course now there is no denial of the arrest from the church, and according to a statement received by EEW, the church maintains that there has been no banning of anyone from the sanctuary.
?Our hearts go out to the entire Betha family and church members,? the statement continues.
?Twyla is not banned from our church and the doors of our church have and always will be open to those who desire to seek a closer relationship with God through Jesus Christ.?
But while Mrs. Betha may be allowed in the pulpit, the ministry’s website has officially been stripped of all images of the couple, citing an “upgrade” as the reason.
Clearly the Atlanta ministry is in crisis as its leaders have been dominating the headlines all year… from marital woes to Ma$e’s decision to return to secular rap after denouncing it years prior.

FYI… Ma$e recently hosted a party for the release of his new single ?Nothing? featuring Eric Bellinger, which contains a parental advisory warning label on its packaging for the nature of the content.
