Mimi Faust of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta hit the red carpet of BlackCelebrityGiving (BCG)’s ‘The Giving Boutique,’ a homeless youth shopping experience (July 27th, 2013).

After week filled with boob rehab drama between Mimi and Joseline (click HERE if you missed that) paired with Mimi’s 3 year breastfeeding explanation on Kandi Koated Nights, Faust decided to give back to the community in a more beneficial way by appearing at the worthwhile event.

BCG has been collecting new and gently used children’s clothing across the country since April 2013, with the support of their celebrity ambassador, television star and NY Times Best-Selling Author Toya Wright.

On Saturday, July 27, 2013, the first of their pop-up shopping boutiques was held in Atlanta, GA, where they offered a unique shopping experience and day of pampering to more than 400 homeless and low-income youth. Each child reportedly received three to five outfits, under-garments, accessories and shoes to assist with their back to school needs.

(Atlanta, GA) Each quarter, BCG – the frontier provider of positive media coverage of black celebrity philanthropy, non-profit organizations and good news – chooses one social cause to tackle through a national Cause Campaign: a special partnership with a celebrity that allows us to raise awareness, funds and other forms of support for the cause in question.

To develop the campaign, we interviewed several homeless teens and families living in Atlanta and Los Angeles. And we were shocked to hear that an overwhelming number of the people we spoke to felt dehumanized by the amount of discarded and unwanted donations they receive, often in trash bags. They told us that, while they were grateful for the help, it made them feel hopeless and unwanted.

With that information in mind, we set forward to offer homeless families across the country, the opportunity to have a true “shopping experience,” minus the price tags, of course.

Beyond being able to cover the basic necessity of back-to-school clothes, we are excited to be offering these youth and their families a true luxury shopping experience, complete with a live-DJ, sweet treats, and more. As an added treat, our youth will be greeted by a host of celebrity sales associates.
