[READ: Is This Michael Jordan’s Secret Son? (PHOTOS + VIDEO)]
In his response to the court filing, Jordan sought to have the case dismissed, calling the paternity suit a ?shameless, bad faith attempt to abuse the legal system.? He also said he planned to sue Smith ?and others? for the ?false claims? made against him.
Well after a few ‘closed door’ meetings, it seems Jordan’s ‘secret’ shall stay that way (at least for now).
Details below…
According to TMZ, Pamela Smith, the woman who filed the suit Michael Jordan for paternity and child support, has dismissed her case against the NBA star … but he might not be out of the woods yet.
Smith, who claims Jordan fathered her 16 year-old son, filed legal documents in Georgia asking the judge to dismiss her case against MJ, and the request was granted without prejudice (ie she can refile at a later time if she so chooses).
It’s not clear why Pamela actually agreed to dismiss the case. She had originally requested the court to order Jordan to submit to a DNA test ASAP.
The overall consensus in the matter is that Jordan and Smith reached an ‘out of court’ agreement or settlement of some sort… or perhaps they merely agreed to postpone the legal action while they mediate the situation outside of the public’s eye.
There has been no official word from Jordan’s camp, however attorney Randy Kessler, who represents Pamela Smith, said she dropped the case on his advice that “dismissal at this time, without prejudice, is in her son?s best interests.”
In the meantime, Jordan’s ‘secret’ son, Taj… remains a secret.
