Welp… they said it wouldn’t last, and it didn’t!

American Idol Ruben Studdard has filed for divorce from his wife of 3 years, Surata Zuri McCants.

Studdard, who won the popular talent show back in ’06, jumped the broom in 2008 with a chick who was once considered to be a solid staple on the Atlanta entertainment scene after being one of the dancing booties in Nelly’s “Tip Drill” video (WATCH).

The couple met in 2006 at an Atlanta Wal-Mart during one of Ruben’s CD signings and despite claims that McCant wasn’t a golddigger, it’s clear to anyone with eyes that she sought out the “golden teddybear.”

According to Studdard:

Her best friend was one of my biggest fans.

My wife was a flight attendant at the time. (Her friend called) crying because she couldn’t get off of work to get her CD signed.

So my wife said that she would come and do it and she came through the line and told me the story about her friend and how much she loved me and I looked up and was just like, ‘Yo, what about you?’

So an Atlanta stripper turnt “flight attendant” heads to Wal-Mart to get her “friend’s” cd signed and ends up marrying the chunky idol? Sounds about right.

Whatever the case, after 3 years of marriage and no kids, Studdard filed for divorce in his home state of Alabama, citing ?irreconcilable differences?.

A rep for the “velvet teddy bear” simply states, ?Ruben and Zuri have gone their separate ways.?
