Rapper T.I. was instrumental in talking a suicidal man off the ledge of a 22-story building in Atlanta today.

If you were anywhere near Peachtree Street around 4pm, you may have noticed that traffic was at a stand still. That’s because there was a 22 year old man on the roof of a Colony Square building threatening to jump.

The man was visible from the street and witnesses in nearby buildings reported seeing him sitting on the edge of the roof of the building.

Peachtree Street was temporarily blocked off between 14th and 15th streets, and MARTA buses were being re-routed.

V-103’s Ryan Cameron went live on air reporting every move of the distressed gentleman. Ryan should definitely be commended on his coverage of the situation. But one thing in particular rubbed me the wrong way. V-103’s choice to play Donnie McClurkin’s “We Fall Down”…

As all of Atlanta listened intently and prayed for a positive outcome, T.I. heard about the situation on air and called Ryan to find out what he could do to help. Tip decided to roll over to the building, where the rapper met with police and recorded a heartfelt video message which cops then played for the man on the roof.

After the young man saw T.I.’s video he agreed to step off the ledge … and met T.I. in the lobby, where the two were able to talk things out. Cops later informed the radio station that they will not be pressing charges against the man, who has yet to be identified. Hopefully he’ll be able to get the help he needs.

T.I. aka Clifford Harris, is facing his own troubles with the law. He has a court hearing scheduled Friday (Oct. 15th) following his arrest last month for drug possession.
