Nicki Minaj is featured in the recent issue of Paper Magazine rocking a Blonde look. She’s been every color under the sun and always rocks it!
Nicki’s debut album drops November 24th and some in the music industry feel that the success of her album is important to the future of the female rapper.
Considering the fact that BET just completed a documentary on ladies in hip-hop [Click HERE to watch], I find it hard to believe that the weight of all female mc’s falls on one particular person.
Check but what one industry insider is saying:
According to DJ Greg Street:
Nov 24 nicki’s album will drop. It is important to the future of the female rapper that this cd does well.
If Nicki is the most highly anticipated & doesnt sell a lot of cds, it will set the female rap game back another 5 to 10 years. If she sells crazy, a lot more female artist will get signed to real situations.
Corporate America are followers, somebody has to lead. So stop hatin & go get the cd when it comes out. Trust me.
I personally disagree. If Nicki’s project is a top seller, that means she’ll be the next Lil Wayne…. i.e. on everybody’s ish! That in now way indicates that female rappers won’t get any play. I wish people would stop putting the weight of the female rap world on NM’s shoulders.
I mean seriously… is she really that great? Or just very well marketed??
